Nobuo Uematsu leaves Square-Enix

Yeah, you heard it right.
Read about it here.

I suppose being that busy could lead someone to such a decision. I think this is great news though. One of the biggest reasons that I, and I'm sure many other people, like the Final Fantasy series is for the music. But now, with Uematsu going freelance, fans of his music can hear his work in many different settings and games. To be honest, I think FF's gone stale, so I'm quite fond of this change. Plus, it's not like such a thing hasn't happened before. Yasunori Mitsuda was once dedicated to Square as well, but he too has broken away and gone off to perform his magic elsewhere. Definately for the better, I believe.

Cool

I heard about this a bit ago. I think that it is a pretty good thing, and I think that he might put some work into games every once in awhile still. Also, FF could have some new composers. Uematsu had a very long, nice run.

Re: Nobuo Uematsu leaves Square-Enix

Ah...dammit!

Well, at least it looks like he'll be doing a lot more music in games, so we could get a good number of his works in a number of titles. Still, he and Final Fantasy were like simese twins, and now they've separated. Oh well...I just hope I hear some of his works in FFXII before going totally insane, cuz he's one of my favorite music writers.

Well, I guess it's a good thing, if he still works on some games, I will get them, he's truly the master of composition.

Re: Nobuo Uematsu leaves Square-Enix

Crud, that really stinks... he wrote some of my favorite game music... Final Fantasy VII has some great, amazing music. Trail of Blood was pure gold, it scared the living **** out of me, heck, it still does. That song is so creepy, I get scared when it is the next track on my playlist. That, in my opinion, is one of the greatest game music pieces ever, to be able to do that to me.

I will miss him... he was a great composer.

Re: Nobuo Uematsu leaves Square-Enix

He'll still be a great composer. He just won't work exclusively for Square any more.

Fine with me, since there are companies and series far more worthy of his time then Square and FF.

That really sucks for me, I love his music, and now he is leaving SE. Well I'll still lookout for his music like LoS said.

Re: Nobuo Uematsu leaves Square-Enix

i loved, his music
ffVI had the best music
the 19 minute long music symphony on the final boss. 'dancing mad' is the song

and 1 winged angel in FFVII was great

its sad his left, 20 years his been with them
im sure he will continue his brilliance elsewhere
such as australia, where he is heading and will be performing in sydney in a special show

Nights of Fantasia? A few people I know attended that. If it was in my city then I would have definately gone.

Back on topic, its a sad loss but I don't mind it. I'd like to see fresh talent in the new games as the past few have seemed to be a tad repetitive IMO (that being said, they were all still amazing ).

EDIT: heh, the actual review says something about a few concerts outside of Australia...

You wish. Final Fantasy XII looks a lot better than X was.

Many would call you a liar, then. He write's better music than most older composers, but rarely.

Well except for the fact that Final Fantasy is what got his name out there instead of 'just another music writer.' Combining a good game and good music from the very beggining.

Can someone say Disney Concert Hall in America?

But the FF series is no longer very good. So he'll be combining his music with even better games now, not to mention a larger variety of them.

I highly doubt people will stop playing the games because he left. Unless they're idiots who don't know the concept of buying a game soundtrack.

I thought he was overated and only well known because he was the composer for squre.
