Widescreen or Normal?

I know this is kind of random and doesnt have much point. But when you play old games on an sp or advance do you play with widesreen (L) or normal screen (R)?

I hate the stretched look of the original Game Boy games on the GBA SP. Although it's kind of a waste of space, I much prefer them in their original dimensions.

Well, the only GBC game I play is pokemon red, but now that fire red and leaf green are available I don't anymore. I used to play it normal, because the stretchy look irked me.

Yeah, I'm an adminstrator. Doesn't mean I can't moderate the boards, though. I've just been doing it a little less, especially because Kokiri Kid does such a great job.

Would that explain your low post count?

I always play with widescreen. I like it big even though it does screw up the picture a little. Maybe I'll try it differently some time.

This is getting pretty off-topic, but...Lioness suggested resetting my post count, and after no deliberations whatsoever, I did so. I also changed my name to Lala for about five minutes at her suggestion as well. There should be someone with a screenshot of it if you want to see it. Was fairly recent...so no, my status has nothing to do with my post count aside from the fact that I was able to change it without bugging Remus. :razz:

Actually, I play all the old GB games on the Super Game Boy for the SNES. It's the only way to go.

Well, I only play LOZ:LA and Metroid II (the only GB games I play) these days. I usually go for widescreen. Meh. My Metroid II's Battery died a year ago, so now it's really down to LA.

Either, I switch back and forth from time to time. Widescreen can get annoying sometimes.

Widescreen, I don't like look at the black bits when it's on normal size.

Normal screen size is the way to go, when you stretch them, they always get distorted. It was fun for a little while, when I was able to buy my first GBA, to play around with the widescreen function. But now, it really makes no sense to make the screen laerger and have the games look worse. You know, it does not make it any taller, just basically twice as long. So, moving sideways seems to go really fast, and moving up or down seems very slow.

Normal size screen for me.

I dont use widescreen. It distorts the graphics and all of the good goes out cause you can barely read the text. It also gives me headaches XD. My cousin uses widescreen though. She thinks it puts a modern "punch" in the games XD

I use normal size, widescreen stretches everything and distorts them. I see no point in using widescreen, it just makes things look weird.

Widescreen makes everything look bleh, so I prefer normal.

I hate how widescreen has the huge, black, horizontal lines strewn across the top and bottom of whatever you're playing/watching. I prefer normal.

We're talking about the Game Boy Advance, not just video games in general. Widescreen in this case refers to Game Boy and Game Boy Color games having their images stretched to conform to the larger Game Boy Advance screen, not on a television or anything like you're thinking of.

Perfect example of why one should read the threads they post in.

I never really cared for the widescreen feature myself. I accidently found it playing one of the Oracle games one day and thought it was ridiculous the moment I turned it on. I don't like the distorted look or the illusion that moving across the screen horizontally is faster than moving across the screen vertically. Seems rather pointless to me.

So yeah, I prefer the original dimensions. All of the dark space around the screen doesn't bother me one bit. Perhaps that has something to do with my preferring movies in letterbox/widescreen.

Widescreen is utterly pointless. It's just a distortion effect, and adds absolutely nothing.

You'd have to be insane or really, really bored to prefer it.
