The Arcade

Oookay...now, even in large cities like New York and L.A., I haven't noticed many arcades around...now that I've finally settled in on I think my second month or so, I've found at least fifteen arcades within 5 square miles @_@.

Anyway, anyone still go to the arcades back home (if any)? WHats your favorite game?

Heh, I like DDR games (obviously if you read any of my posts a while back), and I like showing off sometimes on heavy mode ^_^. My other favorites are things like Time Crisis and there was this one game called Sayokaze Gunslingler...or something...

Re: The Arcade

I've wanted an arcade near me since as long as I can remember. The closest thing to one around here is the Machines at Theatres, Laserquest, & Bowling Alley's. In fact the closest one i've been to is located in Wasaga Beach approximetly 2 hours from my house.

Re: The Arcade

Not to many arcades around here since celebration station was torn down. That place had some great games, DDR, they actually had F-Zero, something I thought I would never find, anywhere. You can find a DDR machine everynow and then if you're lucky in like a bowlingalley or a casino. I like Time Crises Two alot lately, and house of the dead. I also like the old school games, like pacman and galaga.

Re: The Arcade

It´s completely impossible to find an arcade in the town I live in. Why, you ask? Because there aren´t any. It´s a small city. There used to be an arcade a few years ago, but I don´t know what happened to it... An arcade sure would be fun. I've been to some arcades in other cities, but I spend most of the year in my home town.

Re: The Arcade

*sighs* My favorite arcade just closed and I don't know where to go now with spare change. I'm finding the bowling ally is getting a great arcade now though so oh well.

My favorite single player game is any FPS I can find. I love taking both of the guns and blowing the hell out of anything that moves.

Or maybe it is the Sniper Game. The scenarios are great.

I like playing Hydro Thunder with my dad when he drives me. Thats all we do. We spend at least 20 big ones on that game.

Overall I love to play almost all FPSs and most of the fun ticket games.

Re: The Arcade

Tis been awhile since I've been to an arcade or played some sort of arcade machine. I also never really played much of anything as most I either didn't want to blow what money I had on or didn't like. I've played a few shooting games like Area 51 and some sniper game (got about as far as trying to take down a jet of some sort). I've also played racing games like Cruising USA, Hydro Thunder, and some motorcycle racer. I even tried some fighting games. Think that's about it.

Re: The Arcade

Arcades have been dying all over, despite Sega's valiant efforts to keep it alive. If it wasn't for arcades, we wouldn't of had Crazy Taxi!

I say the best way to revive the arcades is put Halo on the arcade platform. Imagine how much money people would pay for a simple way to play LAN Halo. (Just ship multiple machines to a single location and link em up!) The hype Halo gets would be enough to popularize anything; imagine how the Xbox would've turned out without Halo!

Re: The Arcade

Eh, the only arcades around are at pizza parlors and bowling alleys. I still like the classic Frogger, and I also like DDR.

Re: The Arcade

Last time I went to an arcade was when I was 10. They had DDR there... I tried playing it against some 20 year old who beat me and then tried to rub it in. He was the biggest nerd. My brother told him off though. My brother was like 21 at the time.

Re: The Arcade

Hmmmm well I don't go to the Arcades that much anymore, but when I do see one at the movie theaters, I usually like to play one of these games with my friends:
  • Cruising USA
  • Hydro Thunder
  • Time Crises
  • Marvel vs Capcom
  • Marvel vs. Street Fighter

If only these games came on the Gamecube....

Re: The Arcade

BGS, each and every one of the games you've listed there aren't just for arcade. Granted they aren't on the GC, but I know for certain that Cruis'n USA was on the N64, as was Hydro Thunder. The other three can be found on Playstation consoles, some on Xbox and even one on Dreamcast.

Anyhow, there's only one arcade that I know of around here, at a local amusement park. They've got a pretty massive selection of arcade games from both past and present, and I know there's a DDR machine in there somewhere, too. But in the dead center of all those games are the pinball machines. Pinball is awesome, and you all know it.

There are other places, but most are just a few machines in restaraunts, movie theatres or what have you. I know there are more actual arcades at other amusement parks too, but those are in different towns.
