Re: Does anyone buy GCN for anything else besides playing zelda??
Well, I bought a GameCube because I supported Nintendo's system. I bought it at launch time, so there weren't really many fantastic games to buy it for. I bought it with faith that I would get to play cool games, which I have. Some Nintendo, some other developers.

I bought it for the fact that with all of Nintendo's previous consoles & games I've never been dissapointed. I don't think the games have been that bad either, I remember when I first got it I first played SSBM which was great then Animal Crossing then Metroid Prime then Resident Evil & they were all great. I can't wait for the 2005 line-up either with so many good games coming out especially from popular series it should be awesome.

Re: Does anyone buy GCN for anything else besides playing zelda??
I like games other than Zelda for the Gamecube. I have 6 games, and there definately aren't that many Zeldas for GCN.
A main reason why I wanted the Gamecube was the Nintendo-specific games, though. Oh, and this is General Gaming material. Moved there.

I was going to buy one anyway for all of the nintendo made games. But what helped it is when I heard that the RE games were going to be GCN exclusives.

I would have bought it for just Zelda, but they have a great library, so such a thing was unnecessary.

Brother bought it so he could play Super Smash Bros. Melee. I bought tWW myself with my own money. Next paycheck I'll be getting Metroid Prime.

Re: Does anyone buy GCN for anything else besides playing zelda??
Sega definately isn't nintendo, and you know how I love Sonic. Which is not nintendo. I actually got Gamecube to get all the sonic games. I knew they would be ported.
That, and SSBM. I absolutely LOVED ssbm at the time. So, I went and got a gamecube so I could play it. So, I bought it for both the nintendo made games... and for Sonic >_>.

Re: Does anyone buy GCN for anything else besides playing zelda??
I'm just pissed about the lack of online play. Games such as Splinter Cell: Pandora Tommorrow I have to get for Xbox or something, because the online modes are non-existant in the GCN version. If it wasn't for the Nintendo-made games (such as Metroid Prime) I probably wouldn't have bought the thing.

Re: Does anyone buy GCN for anything else besides playing zelda??
Yes, I did.
My parents like to play video games with my sister and I every so often, and with games like Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Mario Party, etc., it makes it cool, since the GCN has 4 controller ports.

Re: Does anyone buy GCN for anything else besides playing zelda??
Well I sorta did and sorta didn't. I knew and still know that Nintendo games are invariably amongst the best games ever regardless of their sales or popularity among people my age. I don't care if WW or Mario Sunshine looks like a 3 year old game. I don't think a 3 year old would be able to fully complete either of those games, apart from the odd few. I'm not at all bothered about the GTA games or Gran Turismo or Driver or whatever ISN'T on GC because I'm not particularly bothered about those types of games anymore. I love Nintendo, and, while I can see Sony and Microsofts appeal, I prefer Nintendo because I know, while they (as a company and developer) have their faults, they still produce world-class games. I will admit however to being disappointed Nintendo (for instance) did not get the GTA or Driver series, as I have played those games and they are good also (Don't know about Driv3r though really), but I can live without them. I know that the Nintendo games give me the most enjoyment, and they last.. I mean look at LTTP, a decade or so later, people still love it, and I do. I love Nintendo. The reason I bought the GC was because I love Nintendo consoles (despite their faults) and I love Nintendo in general. If I ever get married, my wife'll have to do with another partner in Nintendo
..... What the hell did I just say?! >_>

Re: Does anyone buy GCN for anything else besides playing zelda??
Anyone who buys a console for one and only one game, in my opinion, is an idiot, even if it is such an esteemed game like Zelda. In my mind, spending several hundred dollars on one game, memory card, and console, is not justified by one piece of software, no matter how good.
To answer the thread's question, I play much more than Zelda on my 'Cube, though I do play Ocarina of Time on it a lot. |

Re: Does anyone buy GCN for anything else besides playing zelda??
You two have very similar avatars. Kinda.
Therefore... erm... That was kinda irrelevant. Anyways, back on topic, I can think of several games that would justify the purchase of their respective systems, by themselves. I would buy an N64 just for OoT/Super Smash Bros. I would buy an SNES just for LttP, just for Super Mario World, or just for Chrono Trigger. I did buy the PS2 just for Disgaea and Xenosaga, though I've widened my scope a bit ![]() Fire Emblem alone is worth the price of several GBAs. Link's Awakening is worth the price of quite a few GBs. SSB:M is worth the price of the GC alone. So... there.
