Goof-Ups!

Obviously, you choose which of the list above things you have done most often or most recently in or with your video game/system, and it would be preferred if you have a funny/interesting story to post al0ng with your "vote", though if you choose to be boring/pretend you don't goof up and not say anything then i don't give a ..........lol just kidding seriously no pressure to say anything, don't worry! In fact, many of the options above are simple things that rarely would have more of a story anyway!

EDIT: woah! sorry, i honestly didn't know that happened! I had to edit/shorten several of my poll options as they were too long and apparently it still submitted the post......i think. Oh, but i did leave the computer for 20 minutes or so while constructing the poll.....oh well, my bad. And, talking about goof ups, LOL , here is the poll that i had been working on since i made that post!

I was confused until I saw this part. I think this thread is missing a poll.

Uh.. I think the best chance this thread has is for us to describe dumb moments we had that were to do with gaming. Or something.

I used to violently throw my controllers whenever I lost or something.

Surprisingly, I never broke one.

Re: Goof-Ups!

I was playing a GBA game on my gameboy player one night. I don't remember what game. I was nowhere near a savepoint though, and I hadn't saved in a long time. I also wanted to go to bed, but I knew that if I left the gamecube on, my dad would see the light and shut it off.

I quickly looked around for something to hide the light. I then ejected the GBA game from the gameboy player and put it on top of the light.

It's a good solution when I'm playing GCN games, but not when I'm playing gameboy games.

^ I did the same except I broke several.

I wasn't even competitive. It was usually when I couldn't figure out where in the hell to go next, or a boss relentlessly destroyed me. Mind you this was prior to my knowledge that the internet had guides and such. Also, game guides where like $25.

Re: Goof-Ups!

If I'm playing a game without the autosave feature, I'll usually forget to save a couple of times and have to start over again. It happened to me while playing through MM. I had left my N64 on for an hour or so in the middle of the boss fight on the last temple. Without thinking, I saw the light on so I turned it off. Now I have to do that temple again.

I also don't get into the habit of having multiple saves, such as when I play Fallout 3. When I first started playing, I only had two saves files and I ended up having to restart everything. However, I have since then learned from my mistakes.

Re: Goof-Ups!

Okay, I see the poll now. My main one is forgetting to save, I've done this countless times.

With games like Oblivion or Fallout 3/New Vegas, I now save a LOT OF TIMES. Each game has over 1000 saves, because I'm afraid to lose my file, or if I die, and have to do everything again

Re: Goof-Ups!

I once was playing Pokemon Emerald and got sooo far in the game and was getting tired... I healed my Pokemon and then turned off the game.

And then it was seconds later I did, I realized I forgot to save. Derp.

That was probably the dumbest thing I ever did... I've never done anything out of the list in the poll besides not saving once...

May I add, what a great poll!

I swear if it was an option, I'd pick every single one of those

Re: Goof-Ups!

I've done so many terrible things in gaming, I forget them all. I've broken games, lost them, once ripped out a megadrive cartridge the day my dad bought the game home (I think it was Flashback, one of the death scenes was very traumatic and still scars me to this day... thankfully as we just got the game, dad said it didn't work and just got a replacement). Thankfully I'm a bit more careful now. My worst habits include forgetting to save, and on games like Resident Evil 4, I watch the cinematics like a movie, putting down the control and having a quick snack/drink, only for a button-mash scene to come up. So I flail, drop ♥♥♥♥ and shake the control, only to die because the game sprang surprise ♥♥♥♥ on me like that. XD

I once deleted my mid-game AoL file because I thought "Elimination Mode" was an extra game mode.

Shut up, I was 10 ;_;

Re: Goof-Ups!

Forgot to save was the only one I've ever done, and that was when I was 7. Anything else, I don't do. I take care of my games, thank you. There's only one console that I own that is severely scratched, and that is the GameBoy Advance SP. That was because I lent it to someone, who would literally cry if I didn't lend him it, and his mother would say something if I didn't. So, I did. I got it back a week later, and he ruined it. Oh did he ruin it. It was sticky, it didn't work, it smelled, and the top was scratched. Two or three years later, I cleaned it, and charged it, and it worked again.

Well, I have it right in my hand this moment. As for it not being scratched before that, a ton of times I'd just keep it in my drawer when I wasn't using it. When I was outside I brought it back in after I was done playing it. If I scratched it, it was after this kid ruined it. Also, I said severely scratched. Not, "It was completely unscratched and in the most excellent condition possible".

Re: Goof-Ups!

I recently bought Mass Effect and I mis-clicked in my conversation so I reloaded to fix it (mouse being less precise than the analog stick for their dialog menu). So I skipped the lines of conversation and ended up choosing the default option that I accidentally clicked to begin with.

Repeat 4 times.

I forgot my 3DS charger at college when I went home for the weekend and it died on me. In the middle of Four Swords.

Re: Goof-Ups!

Out of the choices, forgetting to save is a big one for me. I was doing a low level, no upgrading run of Sword of Mana the other day. I beat that magma boss. Took forever because each hit only did 1 damage. In the next area I didn't see the save statue and got killed by werewolves. Had to fight him again.

With old portable systems, the power button would sometimes get switched off when it was in my pocket. Not a problem with new systems.
