A question regarding Animal Crossing

Didn't think I should lump this with the Animal Crossing thread that's somewhere around here as it is just one , specific question I wish to ask. Apparently, on Animal Crossing is Mushroom season and you can go out early in the morning and find Mushrooms. I got one in the mail from my Mother but I was wondering how do you actually go about finding them? I know this is probably a rather stupid question with a, most probably, obvious answer but can anyone shed some light on this?

Ah, the mushroom hunting. Early in the morning, mushrooms can be found, usually around heavily wooded areas, I believe. They disappear very quickly, so you have to be fast finding them- I believe every few minutes they change location, or something along those lines. Luckily, they sell for about 5,000 bells. My sister claims she saw mushrooms this morning but was unable to dig them up, so maybe you pick them the same way you pull weeds.

Don't worry, it's not a stupid question.
