Who knew about these accessories?

I was browsing through the GBA section of Gamestop.com and found some things I never new they produced for the GBA (probably old new for you people, but it's new to me). There were two products that really caught my eye. They were the "GBA SP Wireless Messenger" and the "GBA SP Digital Camera". What strikes me about the Wireless Messenger is this: Wireless Messenger uses free radio signals so it’s totally free to use! No monthly charges! Ever. That means that it can go online and offline....why didn't anybody tell me about this thing?! My guess is, this was the first experiment used on the GBA so they could have an idea what they needed to use for the DS and their "PictoChat".

I'm curious, other than the stuff shown at Gamestop.com, has anyone else seen other interesting GBA related accessories that probably have/haven't become popular?

-BGS

PS: If the Wireless Messenger can use Radio Signals...why couldn't they do the same thing with the GBA SP Wireless Links? So instead of being __ amount of feet, you could be blocks or even miles away.

This belongs in General Gaming, as I can't see what it has to do with Zelda O_o

Re: Who knew about these accessories?

I've never heard of either of them. I would have, if they worked well or had any practical uses.

Heh sorry about that (stupid me), I should have known better. I've found some other GBA accessories that have surprized me even further. There's a GBA T.V. Tuner! It can reach up to 99 channels and it seems it can be used as a mini-TV screen that you can hook up to your Gamecube! Click the link and you can read more about it.

Now here's another kind of camera. The last one I showed you could only be used by a GBA SP, this one can be used by either. It's called the GBA Mini Digital Photo Camera. It reminds me a whole lot of that GBC camera (where you could print out pictures)...I guess this was it's succesor.

Apparently there is a GBA Keyboard. The link I've shown you doesn't have a picture of one, but I really really don't know how it could be used for GBA games. Hmmm I'm just thinking...I wonder if this little thing could be used with the DS Pictochat? The only reason I'm curious is because I'd rather type my messages via keyboard rather than punching the letters in with the stylus. However, I may be mistaken. This may not be a computer keyboard, but a piano keyboard instead. Oh if only I had a picture...

I wonder if this little gadget is worth the money. It's called the GBA afterburner internal light. Unlike the GBA SP, a regular GBA doesn't have a lighting system...but this little gadget makes it possible. Now why did I ask the question "I wonder if this little gadget is worth the money" is because to get the general public's attention, the cost of a GBA+Internal Light should be < the cost of a GBA SP.

You could always use the internal light system, or you could use the trusted, and well affordable, GBA Light. There are more than just one model of it, so choose which design you'd prefer.

Here's an altered invention that's already out on the market. This is called the GBA T.V. Adapter. What it basically does is, the exact same thing a Gameboy Player can do...without the aid of the Gamecube.

That's all I have for now. Tell me what you think about these accessories.

Re: Who knew about these accessories?

The Afterburner has been around for quite a while, and has been a huge success in the GBA modder's community, and is still quite successful.

You do know these are all third-party accessories, right? So there's no way that it can be an experiment by Nintendo.

There have been accessories made for the GBA for just about anything. Modders are big on making dupe cartridges using some sort of PC adapter, but someone decided to do something productive for a change and created an operating system for the GBA using the same hardware.

Last I heard the company that made the Afterburner went under since a little thing called the GBA SP was put on the market.

And the wireless messenger's radio signals don't amount to going online and offline. It's uses radio signal on free channels much like a WaveBird does, just with, apparently, much more power. It's would be great if a free service wasn't being built into Nintendo's new handheld that's based around connectivity, that even has another 3rd party messenger title for it coming out. The wireless messenger isn't even out yet, btw.

I've heard of it before now, when Majesco announced it. Persoanlly for soemthign that operates more like a game than a add-on I would trust Majesco, then again who would buy that for me to talk to?

And who would want a $30 camera that holds 20 pictures? Not only would the pictures be horrible, but you couldn't get very many at all, of course that product didn't take off.

I've seen the TV tuner in stores, doesn anyone want to play console games on a GBA screen? Watching tV couldn't even be that great...

Here's something... http://www.turboxs.com/Dtec/dtec.shtml it's a unique idea at least. I don't see it offering up much practicality though, then again i'm not sure how much a little set-up would cost anyway.

Well I knew that Nintendo couldn't be the only one (the only others I can think of are WildCats and Pelican). But still, I like how many companies are giving many uses to the GBA. I'm just curious what they can do with the NDS. Oh I just can't wait.

Yeah, that's practically what I said a little earlier:

Re: Who knew about these accessories?

Not quite, I meant litterally the company that made Afterburner kits is no longer in buisness, I read it somewhere in the past few months that the company had to clsoe it's doors. Before the GBA SP it was a viable solution, it wasn't going to sell anymore. Stores (lik-sang) don't even have them in stock anymore.
