Wii U controller add-on

What do you think about a wii U add-on that allows you to play if not 3DS, then DS games. The N64 had a simular device. The GC had a gameboy player. What do you think?

I think at this point, there's probably no need for a physical attachment to let you do this. Everything is wireless now.

Also, I don't know how the 3DS' 3D would work on a TV.. and multiple screens would look sort of odd on a TV, too. It'll be cool if there's some sort of compatability between the Wii U and DS/3DS, but I think with the 3DS being what it is, there's no real need to view it on a TV rather than the dual screens.

With the DS, you run into obstacles like Castlevaina where the bottom screen handles the action and the top screen is just a map; the controller screen would have to act as the touch screen for obvious reasons but that would mean the TV gets demoted to map screen when, logically, it should be the other way around. And then there's stuff like Hotel Dusk and Ninja Gaiden where you hold the system sideways, and that ain't gonna translate to a television.


Well, the 3D obviously wouldn't work on a TV but, then, it's optional to begin with. And, with the 3DS's emphasis on the top screen being the main screen and the touch screen being extra, that'd translate just fine to the TV and controller screens. So there's no practical reason why it can't be done.


I'm for it. I bought a Super Gameboy and loved the hell outta that.

I'm all for this, but I doubt it will ever happen, since if it does any one with the Wii U will see no reason to buy a 3DS. If it does happen, the attachment will be ridiculously expensive (around $100-200), so I don't see it happening.

As long as it upscales 3DS games to 1080p- which I don't expect and will probably look weird- I'm all for it.

Seriously, I would love to play WW or Melee in a higher res. They'll find a way.

Really it'd make sense to let us play3/DS games through the Wii U. There are 3D TVs that are 3D from any angle - one of those, OoT 3D, who wouldn't want it?

Make the 3D optional, ja, but let me play my super-quality 3/DS games on the big screen man! I can play 3D small-screen if I don't have the 3D TV!

Plus I think that they could just do it wirelessly built-in for almost nothing. Just register the 3/DS as another controller.

Eh...Seeing as how you can already emulate DS games on yer Nintendo Wii, I expect the homebrew community to brew up a few emulators for zat Gamecube and all those handheld consoles.

I presume EmulateMii will come up with the first gamecube emulator, and that some guy at wiibrew will make a 3ds/ds emulator :3

It works horribly. I pray it would somewhat work on the WiiU.

Don't find the need, because I own the 3DS, and it would make less money, because people won't find a need to buy the 3DS, and will just make money off the Wii U, for the most part.

A GBA port would be neat though, since those games aren't available on the 3DS VC, IIRC.
