Well, I finally got to New Vegas itself today. When you can play dozens of hours worth of content before you even get to the titular area, you definitely have made your game right. Of course, I technically only got to Freeside, I still need to get to the strip itself.
Also, I find it hilarious how many freeside criminals armed only with pool cues think they can successfully mug somebody with a sawed off shotgun.

I think that is one of the small flaws with the game. Because the karma system is so meaningless, I don't really have much incentive to bother being nice. Granted, I'm not killing people in the streets and I'll generally only attack people who pick a fight with me. However, I'm also stealing everything that isn't nailed down because there really isn't much penalty for doing so. Like I said, the last game I played before this was Mass Effect, where your morality bar means quite a bit, so its a bit of a contrast.
On the subject of relations though, I managed to keep every group I've met so far happy except for the Legion and Powdergangers.
