Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I'm doing the Brotherhood of Steel and I'm currently trying to decide whether to give the disks to the leader or the other guy. Are there any particular karma alignments, rewards, or quests associated with one choice or the other?

I try not to meta game in RPGs and only make choices based on what I actually want rather than rewards or EXP. However, in this case I really can't decide so I'm basing it on that instead.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I don't even bother with Hardin. Just do Veronica's quests if you have her (I can make you care) and do the Elder's quests, I think you get more quests AND the opportunity to join the brotherhood. I think Hardin is more of like a quick end or something like that.

Karma doesn't actually mean a lot in this game. The only thing you should be worried about is your reputation with different groups.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

Well, I finally got to New Vegas itself today. When you can play dozens of hours worth of content before you even get to the titular area, you definitely have made your game right. Of course, I technically only got to Freeside, I still need to get to the strip itself.

Also, I find it hilarious how many freeside criminals armed only with pool cues think they can successfully mug somebody with a sawed off shotgun.

I think that is one of the small flaws with the game. Because the karma system is so meaningless, I don't really have much incentive to bother being nice. Granted, I'm not killing people in the streets and I'll generally only attack people who pick a fight with me. However, I'm also stealing everything that isn't nailed down because there really isn't much penalty for doing so. Like I said, the last game I played before this was Mass Effect, where your morality bar means quite a bit, so its a bit of a contrast.

On the subject of relations though, I managed to keep every group I've met so far happy except for the Legion and Powdergangers.

Haha. Freeside is fun, I mean, the Kings are there.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

Freeside hates me after I shot up the shop that sells energy weapons as part of Cass'es quest
It was one tough fight, let me tell you. I had to run out into the street to heal several times.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

So I completed the game on Hardcore + Very Hard and I have to say that having 100 Gun skill is useless. Next playthrough invest in Speech, Lockpick, Science, Repair, and Medicine.

After glitching so much that Boone and Veronica lost their main weapons and the NCR would continuously try to kill Rex after I finished a quest for them I said, "**** it" and ran as fast as I could to the end of the game. NCR sucks, I know this because I sided with them. Also, Rex never fought in my game, he would just pull over 6 different Legion soldiers and have Boone kill them. I was dumb enough to do the final mission with no companions by my side.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I got New Vegas at Midnight at my local Gamestop. Its a fantastic game, although it can be rather glitchy. Nothing game breaking though.

I one killed a coyote in VATS and it spun around in the air for a good 5 seconds without a head. I lol'd quite hard.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I have some sort of glitch where ED-E is missing, however, the game still thinks he is in my party. He got knocked unconscious by an artillery round when I was getting into Nellis, and then he disappeared shortly afterward. NPCs will comment as if he is there, and trying to summon him in the dev console gives me a response as if he is already with me. Anyone know how to fix it?

I have a 100 lockpick skill (the only one I have maxed out so far, though I'm pretty close with science and sneak) and it is actually very useful; go for it.

By the way, what is the level cap in this game? I'm currently at level 19 and there are still a bunch more things I want to get, so I'm hoping it goes to at least 30.

Level 30 is the level cap, yes.
Can't you use the console to make ED-E to move to whatever location by using his ID? Or is that what you where doing?

I used the console command to bring ED-E to me (moveto player). However, because the game thinks ED-E is already with me, it does nothing.

Also, 100 Sneak=godhood. I just took out every single legion soldier in Cottonwood Cove without even being detected; and not using sniper rifles either, I would go to within pistol range. I killed Aurelius Pheonix (the leader of the base) by sneaking up right next to him and planting a C4 charge on him without him even realizing it!

By the way, is it actually possible to find Veronica the dress she wants, or is that just there for characterization? If it is, where can I find one; I haven't come across any dresses so far in the game.

The dresses she loves are worn by the women in the White Glove Society in the Ultra Luxe Casino on the strip.

You can give it to her but she won't wear it, she'll just squee a lot and teach you an unarmed move.

I gave her a pre-war springwear (I think), and it made her really happy too.

I have an awful glitch where the only chemistry set I can use in the game is in Doc Mitchell's house. The rest are just there for decoration.

Yeah, but she only teaches you the unarmed move with the White Glove Dress.

Nothing. If your science skill is enough, it just asks what you want to make. Your skill doesn't have to be very high, either.

Yeah, she won't wear it, EVER. Your reward is the unarmed move.
