Well, eventually, I think it would be a given anyway; whatever form it takes, be it a direct PSP sucessor, a smart phone (as has been rumoured), or other, a new portable gaming device form Sony is going to come around sooner or later.
But it's now more or less confirmed.
However, this console war **** has bored me almost as soon as I discovered it. The truth is that both systems will sell, both systems will have a lot of games that the owners of the other system will miss out on, and regardless of the previous two facts, fanboys will argue about with is better without a point other then to attempt to hollowly affirm their decision and justify their brand fanaticism.
And, Jesus guys, other then the third party support (which is predictable; considering how huge the Wii and DS have been, why is it a surprise that developers want to jump onto the potential Next Big Thing, especially when it's powerful enough for them to be able to reuse assets from precious projects for easy profit?) the 3DS isn't all that impressive. Get off the hype train and try to see this objectively. A large number of the games coming out are ports or games that closely resemble console cousins (hey, wasn't that the problem with the original PSP, all those years ago?), it's unwieldy large and uncomfortably expensive.
It is
exactly what we expected, but people have gotten so used to disspointment from Nintendo that
exactly what we expected is far more then we actually expected.
