Just got No More Heroes 2

Well, pretty much what says on the tin.

Today I finally get it and, I don't know if you care, but some opinions are gonna be dropped here.

After a couple of hours, I finished the three first battles and some of the "jobs" here.

The controls are the same, that's obvious, and the battles, fun. The only problem was the battle against Charlie McDonald

I feel it a little awkward to move, and is not as exciting as I though it gonna be.

The jobs are a different story. I unlocked 4 of them and with the exception of the one with the pipes puzzles (because I hate that kind of games), all were funny. Oh, the simple days of 8 bit (sniff).

And the story, ok, I'm just beginning the game, but, so far, It seems pretty interesting. It's more mature, alright, but the humor is intact. And the cutscenes with Silvia? remind me of killer7.

Well that's all folks, I'm just taking a brake from the game to do some... homework

Hope you like this pseudo-review

Re: Just got No More Heroes 2

Right now I'm playing NMH2 for the second time in the "spicy" difficult level that you can unlock after finished the game the first time.(some bosses are really hard in this difficult level).
The game is very cool, but I really miss to walk around santa destroy. I really like the game, suda 51 add to this new game some interesting things but I would say that my favorite still is the first one.

Yeah, I miss the free schpel tiger too.

Talkin' about hard bosses, how well you do against Matt Helms? It took forever to me beat him

To me he is one of the easier bosses in the game, you just need to stay away of him when he use the fire and then atack him quickly.
In the spicy difficult the samaurai was the harder boss, obviously without count the final boss.

P.S: MEXICAN POWER!

Re: Just got No More Heroes 2

I got this game on launch along with TvC (freakin' awesome fighter. Get it. NOW.), and I basically played it for nine hours straight the first day, and finished it a few hours into the next morning (why're you still reading? I said get the damn fighting game...!). I'll say that while there are definitely enough traits to classify it as a No More Heroes game, many new elements help it feel like practically a different experience. The only real gripes I can think people would have about the game are really only comparative and subjective based on one's interpretation of the changes made to the game. I'd say that for whatever new thing the game had that didn't seem great, it had something else that helped the game in comparison to how the original did it. Basically, it's at the very least just as good as the first one, but for different reasons. If I ultimately had to take a side, I'd probably go with NMH2 on being the better game (you get TvC yet?!).

The only complaints I had about the story involves how they handled the two extra playable characters, Shinobu and Henry. For Shinobu, I really think her role ended long before it should've, especially with how she departed to the point that it simply seemed unresolved for what was presented between herself and Travis. As for Henry, I'll say that he plays way better than Shinobu does (whose jumping can be just short of disastrous for platforming), you're only given the chance to play as him ONCE, and only in a boss fight (which was incidentally better than either of Shinobu's), which was in a dream sequence. That being said, I find myself holding out hope for the future, given that there's still a chance that they'll return in future installments even though this game is Travis' last bow (which is a damned sin...NOW BUY THAT GAME).

Re: Just got No More Heroes 2

I agree with the Shinobu issue. The fights against ranks 9 & 8 are annoying, because of the clumpsy jump system. Really, I wanted more of New Destroyman

Henry, on the other way, is an interesting case. I deduced that he is only playable there because he doesn't want to become a protagonist or in other words, being just the "handsome foil that just happen to be your brother". That's the symbolism behind the fight against Mimmy, I think.

Anyway, I finished the game a couple days ago and, still being a good game, NMH was better.

I've been going back and forth about this game since I heard about it...
Any recommendations if I should spend the money or not? I just want to know if it's worth it. I enjoyed the first one a lot.

Re: Just got No More Heroes 2

This game worth the money. If is not as good and the first one, it came very close.

The gameplay is the same, so not surprises there, but the story, side-jobs and minigames, graphics (is not a huge jump, but the advance is there) and new characters.

My only complains are the lenght (I finished it in a week), and, in my opinions, some bosses are too annoying to battle (Million Gunman, because of the crappy jump of Shinobu, and Jasper Batt Jr in his ridiculous powerful second form.

Other than that, is a funny game and deserves some love

No, it doesn't worth the money... The minigames are very good, and some parts are cool, but everything else is a big FAIL!...

Thanks for the advice, both of you! I guess my best option is to rent it and see if I like it or not.
By the way Noah-X, I love your sig, Whispers of the Heart is a fantastic movie!!!

It really depends mainly on what you liked in the first game. Very few things were taken out per se, and most things are simply refined or made a little different. For example, the combat's more open-ended in the sense that it's now structured so that you'll have alot more incentive to use things like the suplexes, and all the Beam Katanas are much more uniqe in function as well (and of course, you can switch between all four of them anytime during the levels).

Re: Just got No More Heroes 2

How is that liking No More Heroes is bad taste?

It's a funny game, where you simply get a good, funny time.

Or what is your definition of good taste? Graphics? An ultra deep storyline?

Graphics+Sound+Music+Gameplay+storyline...

Now ask yourself, No More heroes is good at any of those areas?

Re: Just got No More Heroes 2

Yeap.

The graphics are good, sure is far for what the Wii can do, but I like them.

Sound. I'm not sure of what are you referring to.

Music. Suda51 always have a good soundtrack, and this is not the exception. "Philistine" says anything?

Storyline. Is not too deep, but it can keep you interested. I was. The cutscenes are short and funny and the characters get their development (maybe except Shinobu. What a waste). You can even get some symbolism in the rank battles.

So, If the game has these, what is wrong with it?

Yeah, both games had fantastic audio, awesome boss fights, and 2 had much more satisfying combat with grunt enemies from the original. Both titles were also pretty challenging, another key attribute in games.

This is totally wrong. First, you accept that they are far from what the Wii can do, and then you say that you like them. You may like them, but that doesn't mean that they are good.

Voice acting, sound effects, but I don't know if it's the right term...

You might be right, because even if I hate the music in the game, is because of my tastes.

Storyline?... Do you mean the weird, lame and rushed way to connect the events in the game?

haha... I thought that you, the god of videogame's knowledge, would have hated No More Heroes... But anyway, I will just ignore you because I don't like to be insulted.

They got good actors, and every character has a defined personality, specialy Travis, Silvia, Destroyman and Henry. I didn't expect less.
Sound effects? I think that is a little pointless.

You even accepted that they are bad, because you said that they are far from what a Wii can do, and Wii is inferior graphically to other consoles.

As I have said previously, the only good graphics in the wii are: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Okami (even if it's a port, and it has worst graphics that the PS2 version), Madworld (not too much), Red Steel 2, and maybe Fatal Frame 4. I may be forgotting something else, but I think that everything else is bad.

I hate voice acting in No More Heroes, specially Travis voice... But I think that is mainly for the bad dialogue in the game. And I forgot Silvia, who is easily the most annoying voice in videogame's history (I know that you will say that SUDA was trying to maker annoying, but hell, that was too much).

I know that No More Heroes doesn't take itself serious, but it is not funny either, so it fails on both sides.

Is there a problem? This is not a free forum?
