crossing to the handheld side

in the past few months i have been finding myself to strying away from the console games and starting to get more into hanhelds. i think its because in the handheld games, graphics don't play as big of a role as they do in console games. they worry more about a storyline. am i the only one who thinks this?

Well, I have been utterly immersed in Golden Sun the past couple of months, so you're not the only one. I personally think that RPGS are the only console games with real storyline, the rest (like Tekken) really have no in-depth stories. And I think the second most important thing (after gameplay, of course) to have in a video game is story line.

Re: crossing to the handheld side

I got a GameBoy SP for Christmas, but after playing it almost endlessly for a few months, I just sorta lost interest. Maybe that's because the two games I had were "WarioWare" which is fun but tiring (I'm not the sort to enjoy having to do the same tasks at increasing speeds and think of it as progress), and this RPG called "Broken Sword" which my mom got for cheap, and was fun but I came to a point where I couldn't do anything so I stopped. I haven't really thought about picking up anything new, although with The Minish Cap just released...

I like the idea of a handheld. I asked for it so I'd have something to do on the commute to school when it starts in September. My favourite thing is the 'simple' graphics. Makes an old geezer like me remember the glory days.

Re: crossing to the handheld side

GBA is a good system, but it nowhere near compares to the awesomeness of the mighty Super Nintendo. There are more epic games on SNES than on GBA, plus there are less bad games. Still, if you're looking for the modern equivilent of the 16-bit era, then stick with the GBA.

^And THAT my friend, is what I like about the GBA. I just hope after the GBA passes, we will still see 2d pixiled games on other systems. (FSA and SMBros. DS gives me hope!)
