Private Gaming Corporal Discussion

General Gaming General Discussion!

Because everything doesn't need a thread!

So, don't especially like the music in Stage six of R-Type III: The Third Lightning?
Complain about it here!

Looking for a positive side of Superman 64?
You won't find it here, but try anyway!

Is there a specific multiplayer game you wanna see if anyone still plays, because you want to play with them?
People here probably suck, but go ahead and look!

Welcome, to General Gaming General Discussion. I think you can figure the use of this thread out on your own. Discuss, complain, ask, brag or demand anything and everything videogame related here, especially things that don't warrant their own thread! There's no major rules, no specific topic, but plenty of things you can do wrong or discuss without deletion!

So, don't make a thread about the politics of the world of Little Big Planet, just bring it here!

No. ****ing. Pokeporn.

I think this is a nice thread, Notsil. It provides a place for people to post things that really don't need a thread, like simple game questions and help and whatnot. :]

As for what I'd like to say, who's disappointed in the long lack of Fire Emblem news? I'm just dying for an announcement, being such a huge fan of the series and all.

Oh, and first post. :3

Honestly, I doubt a thread like this would help.
You think the people that post things like these in threads are really going to not only look for and find this thread, but consider their topic within the boundaries of it?

Also who else thinks the shop system sucks in Tactics A2 it really ruined the game

Yeah, it was pretty lame. It was also lame how you start every battle with 0 MP.

If a (good) remake of FFVI is not made, blood will be spilled.

Re: Private Gaming Corporal Discussion

I'm with Tonch on this. It'd make more sense to make a thread about the game itself rather than posting a question about it. I think this is way too general. Plus, a thread like this could go really bad really fast. But, we'll see where this goes.

I don't exactly recall it, but I remember the A2 shop being pretty balls. And I think they made you start at 0MP so you couldn't just use an Illusionist spell and wipe out the entire map.

That too.
That also means my doublecast Summoner isn't so awesome anymore.

Re: Private Gaming Corporal Discussion

Okay so I'm going to talk about my recent gaming acquisitions.

I picked up Saints Row 2 after recommendations from a friend and seeing it cheap. Problem is, when running it on Windows 7, the whole game plays in fast forward. To slow it down, I have to open the game, tab down, open up a third-party cheat engine, and enable a 0.5 speedhack, which makes it slightly annoying to run. The game itself is pretty good. There are two or three things I found more enjoyable in GTA IV, but otherwise, this is an improvement. Problem is, I occasionally get frame skippage when driving at high speeds, so that's annoying.

I also got Dead Space after seeing it cheap. I'm having a lot of trouble getting into it, to be honest. It seems fairly well-made and I commend the developers on that, but it's just not my kind of game. I'm feeling a decent bit of atmosphere, but I've only played it for like an hour, so I dunno if that carries over to the rest of the game.

I also re-acquired Oblivion and installed a ****ton of mods on it. This has been keeping my the most entertained of the three. The voice acting really ****s me, though. Lylat Wars remains the pinnacle of voice-acting performances, as far as I'm concerned. This is just an abomination. I skip through conversations as fast as I can read.

That was probably the lamest boss fight I think I've ever had to trudge through. And was the end of the game even worth it? Hell no.

That thing made me think Gearbox is going to be one of those "Take one step forward, take two steps back" kind of developers.

Re: Private Gaming Corporal Discussion

Yeah, that boss was quite the letdown, considering that the bosses preceding it were, well, better.

I've been spending my time with GTA IV lately. Again. Got to the main island in like a day and now I'm just messing around. It's still fun, trying to do jumps and tricks and ****. I would like to try the multi-player though.

I've also been playing some RE5, which is now starting to lose it's appeal somewhat. Upgrading all the guns at the moment, to get everything unlocked. The fact that you can use unlimited ammo if you up the difficulty is stupid in my opinion. You couldn't do that in RE4, unless you just changed Ashley's costume to that knight outfit.

Multi-player: GTA IV and RE5. Thread impressions: Nice idea, hopefully doesn't resort to spam.

Re: Private Gaming Corporal Discussion

I must have been the only person nominating for GameFAQ's eighth Character Battle; all my suggestions got through. Magus, Terra, Auron, Kefka, Crono, Crash Bandicoot, Ryu, Sora, Riku, and Fawful. Strange.

I hope they all win!

I recently bought Flower and Braid off the Playstation store. Good ****, son; good ****. You should all get those, as well; they compose a $30 that is well-spent.

Re: Private Gaming Corporal Discussion

Thread is awesome; thanks Notsil!

Isn't it ridiculous that in Mass Effect when people want to arrange a meeting or want you to find something for them, they won't tell you what planet to meet you on, which would be silly enough as it is, or even what planetary system. Oh no, they're just let you know what ****ing star cluster they're hanging out in and leave the rest to you. Look, mate, I have enough trouble finding someone in Thornton's, could you be a little more ****ing specific then "Please meet me in the Argos Rho Cluster"? ****.

Re: Private Gaming Corporal Discussion

Well, most of the Star Clusters consist of blank, unexplorable areas, anyway (One of the problems with Mass Effect, despite its greatness; why attempt to offer the illusion of such a big, explorable galaxy when so few places are explorable and the few places that are explorable are basically lifeless deserts?) so it's easy to find out where they want you to go.

Re: Private Gaming Corporal Discussion

The only good Final Fantasy Tactics is the original. I absolutely hate the law system.

So, I'm going to either download Braid or Shadow Complex today, or maybe a combination of Arcade games, I'm not sure yet, but I'll let you guys know later.

I'm borrowing my cousins Assassin's Creed 2 right now, and so far, I like it better than the first one.

ALSO, I like this thread idea.

The Gaming Lounge and Currently Playing Thread (now combined) on Heretic-Gamer have been some of our most active and best threads over there. Really distinguishes the need to resurrect a thread, say, like the 358/2 Days thread, to post a small updated impression. Not saying ZU is that awesome, but these threads are certainly brimming with discussion potential.

THIS. THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS!

Flower is quite possibly my Game of the Year. The game is such a unique and artistic experience.

I thought damn near all the bosses were pretty bad. Well, except for the ones like Skagzilla or King Wee Wee. But most of the boss fights were just overpowered bandits with special guns, surrounded with guys.

Braid is awesome, but it was only a dollar or two on Steam the other day. There's no way I'd recommend getting it for console when it's so much cheaper for PC, and the requirements are so low that anyone should be able to play it. Plug a 360 controller into your computer and it's just like playing on an xbox too (proper button symbols show up in-game).

I've been meaning to get Flower for a while, but I'm waiting for a sale first.

Re: Private Gaming Corporal Discussion

LTTP: I don't remember having any gripes with A2's shop, other than only being able to buy one of some of the items at a time. It also took a while to scroll through weapons, but that's nothing.

EDIT: Braid was fine, but it lots of the reason why people love it is the 'mmm, thinking deeply in a slightly saddened way' part at the end. It only lasts a short amount of time. Not the greatest game, but it was great for a downloadable title.

True, but nearly all of them were actually kinda maybe fun to fight against. I spent the entirety of the last boss fight behind one of the rocks and he couldn't hit me once. it was just shoot, shoot, reload until he was dead.
