Resident Evil 4!

This is one game I look forward to almost as much as with the new Gamecube Zelda! The trailer for this one looks absolutely fantastic...it got me drooling! Good thing I got myself a Gamecube!

Re: Resident Evil 4!

I bought my GameCube May 1st, 2002. That's also the first day that Resident Evil came out for it. Coincidence? Of course not. Resident Evil is (and always will be) my favorite game series, and I can't wait until the two newest incarnations come out (RE4, RE Outbreak 2). Plus, the new movie is released September 10th, and is actually based on the games this time. With the original Outbreak being released a few months ago, this is/will be a huge year for RE fans!

Re: Resident Evil 4!

I saw pics, but no video. Link-age would be neat, if any of you've got it.

I've tried the RE games and... meh. The atmosphere is stunningly creepy, and the graphics are cool. But really, I can't stand the gameplay. It just pisses me off. I've only tried a few of the earlier games, but I know that RE4 will have full realized environments, where you can amble away with the camera always behind you. I hate stationary game screens. Hate them. Don't care if it's for effect. Hate. Them. So I'm looking forward to RE4 as the first RE game I'll like.

Hell, no. It's all single-player.

And pipking, there's some gameplay footage at IGN, and you can find the trailer at GameTrailers.

Thanks Sear.

*watches trailer*

Yep, that's a keeper. I love the idea of context buttons which, if I remember correctly, this game uses heavily. Yeah, I think this'll draw in people like me, who've been sort of teetering on the edge of the franchise, thinking it's cool but not enough to play it.

*is wowed*

For more reading pip, check my post that I made a while back, and OKO's post which he made shortly thereafter. They are kinda picture heavy so beware if you have a slow connection. I think there is an interview linked to in mine pip, if you're interested.

Re: Resident Evil 4!

This looks liek the first Resident Evil game that might be more fun to play than to watch it be played. I could never stand the control of the others, and even the enviroments which were supposed to be wonderful in all their pre-rendered glory annoyed me.

Adding some action to the series will certainly be a good thing, and fromt he looks of how it is coming the game won't alienate the survival horror crowd in favor of the F/3rdPS crowd but will bring both into harmonius beauty.

Re: Resident Evil 4!

I actually hated this new idea of having a whole bunch of new things added into the game (eg. New controls, more actions, more weapons) and such things, but after looking at the trailers, and learning more about the story as a whole, it started to look quite interesting.

Right now, I just can't wait until it comes out. It looks so mysterious and unique as of now, hopefully it will deliver.

Re: Resident Evil 4!

I'm looking forward to this game SO much! Especially since I heard there'll be a second character so I don't have to play as Leon. But as Dagger Calica would say, that's just me being vindictive.
Still, I'm gonna miss the old games' quirks, the door animations never fali to creep me out. And the zombies! I'll miss them too. I just don't think hillbillies have the same... charm as a nice walking corpse. I can't imagine getting the same feeling of dread from some guy who looks like Cletus the Slack-Jawed yokel. But if they clean up the controls and item system, who'd argue?
Anyway, with this in my gamecube, 2005 is going to be possibly the worst year of my life. I just hope they bring Wesker in.

Re: Resident Evil 4!

yea this game is gonna be soooooo awesome. i also heard a wile ago that its gonna be 3 disks long. that would make it so awesome. but since they changed it totally from last years E3, who knows if it'll be three disks. if it, that has to be like the longest game in history.

Well, if you have a PS2, you can also enjoy old school RE action with RE Outbreak 2, coming out this fall/winter.

Re: Resident Evil 4!

Resident Evil is one of my favorite game series. I am playing Resident Evil (remake for the Game Cube) for like the 5th time. I playing it in invisable enamy mode, which isn't much harder, just more scary. And I'm gonna buy RE4 the first day it comes out. The graphics are great, game play looks pretty good, and its a new Resident Evil game, all the more reason to buy it.

Re: Resident Evil 4!

RE 4 certainly looks the businees, doesn't it? I'm definitely picking this one up on release day. The only thing I'm concerned about is digital control. I read somewhere that Capcom have kept the digital control present in its predecessors (except for RE 2 on N64). Is this right or not? I'd much rather analogue control than a clunky digital setup.
