Video Game Ideas
Yes, another one of these threads.
Do you have an idea for a video game? Post it here. Say it's genre, title (if appliccable), and write a few pararaphs about its gameplay, atmosphere, and storyine. If you want, you could include a character or weapon list for your game. Here's mine: First-Person Shooter with Western RPG, Survival Horror, and Third-Person Adventure Elements. Starting in he year 1898, the game is the story of a british pseudo monster hunter. He goes around preforming tricks to uneducated people across Europe, tricking them into excorcising ghosts, or killing werewolves that are just normal wolves. The protagonist one day recieves a telegram from a village in a fictional poince in Germany, claiming that their town is plagued byevil spirits. You take the train to the village, and go in the 'haunted' house, and find that the alleged ghost is just a hiding homeless orphan. As you leave the house, you see that the town truly is haunted. As you leave, shaken up, you tell the people that you've done the best you can, and demand pay. They claim that the last person to try to help them owes the money to you. You go to Brundst, a large town, to meet the other hunter and get your money. You meet him after searching through the large town of Brundst. He's a drunken homeless man, living in the gutter near a bordello. In the town of Brundst, lots can be done. You can visit all businesses, go to a tavern, meet people, and get into their personal lives. Sometime while you're in Brundst, you go to a large mansion of a local lord. While you're there, you briefly meet the eyes of an attractive maid, and the man's bodyguard. That's all I'll say now about the story. For gameplay, it would be in first person and third person. It may be easier for some people to walk around the town and fight enourmous enemies in third person, but in some places, the first-person viewpoint would make certain places scarier, and so on. There would be many, many weapons and armor in the game, and any weapon stolen from someoneis permanently yours. You can improvise with a certain button during combat, to use a random weapon. I you pick up a straight razor, for example, you could quickly take out an opponent easier than with a chair leg. By pressing the button, you will grab the weapon most effective on your opponent. If they are a small imp, anything would do, but, for an armored vampire, you'd pick up a bludgeon, like a frying pan or chair. You will be able to fight dirty, and beat enemies to death. You can kill all people in the game, including yourself, in certain circumstances. Also, there would be an AI similar to Left 4 Dead's director for choosing certain enemies to attack you in the fields between towns. The RPG eleents in the game would be a party system. The party members I have so far are these: Aformentioned Maid. She is really a spy from France, trying to decifer her employer's codes. Her weapons are a bow, two throwing knives, and a large combat knife. Age: 17 Aformentioned Butler: With an American 'trench gun' shotgun, he is an all around character, with a very powerful weapon. Age: 23 Italian American Mafia Guy: An American, the man that owes you money. With a very heavy Iron Shotgun and baseball bat, a heavy character, similar to Team Fortress 2's Soldier. Age: 28 British Sniper: A British man with a very advanced sniper rifle, with a shotgun attatchment, and a seperate blowgun. His blowgun is a medium range weapon, and he can use it to kill or incapacitate enemies for other party members to kill. Age: 21 American Photographer: A woman with a camera and revolver. She is a 'scout' character, very fast. She can team up with the sniper to tell you if enemies are coming your way. Age: 20 Inkeeper's Daughter: The stereotypical attractive barmaid, but only at first. She is a pre-feminist, and sort of a sufferagette. She can't fight very well, being a woman (Joke), but she can get you into walled town and fortresses, due to knowing lots of people in different towns. Age: 18 Vampire Woman: A female vampire that is the sister of a major character in the game. She attacks ferally, using claws and short knives. She is hated by many other characters, because she's a vampire. Age: 47, but physically in her twenties. Witch Swordsman: A witch man. In the game, witches aren't the classical type, but their own ethnic group, similar to the Roma. Age: 26 Witch woman: A woman of the witches that can use spells and such. Age: 22 Please, post you ideas for games here! I will go into more detail later on the gameplay.

Re: Video Game Ideas
I have an idea for a game, where this dude goes around banging chicks and drinking to get more powerful and when he gets enough power he can bang the Super Ultra Mega Death Chick With Kung Fu Boobs. Oh and there will be some generic beat 'em up combat system with nerds, geeks, dweebs, and various other losers for enemies.

Re: Video Game Ideas
I have a fairly cool game that's based on a somewhat cool principle.
Five Yells of "Gold" -A Real-Time Strategy with the primary win condition based on a resource goal and a secondary win condition based on beating your opponents. -Most Real Time Strategy games are either like StarCraft, where you're supposed to destroy the opponent, or like the Tycoon series where you're supposed to make alot of money. A few games have both as win conditions, but the destroying enemies part coming first. I haven't really seen any games with the the destroying enemies part still available, but secondary. -The setting is a quasi wild west steampunk mixture of various desert cultures set in a fictional American Southwest. There are swords, rifles, mine carts, dragons, camels, kangaroos, wolves, Americans, Mexicans, Aztecs, Apaches, engineers, mercenaries, miners, steam, cars, computers, and maybe even an airplane or two. -The whole point of the game is to mine for gold. So, you have Diggers to do so. But you have to find a way to get more gold than your opponents. Engineers are the best investment for making your mining camp more efficient. But there are dragons and wolves around guarding the best places to mine. You can hire Mercenaries to take out the most dangerous ones. But your enemies have mercenaries, too, and you both inevitably get into each other's ways. Oh crap. So now, you can either dominate the gold market and buy out your opponent, or you can be crafty and take him out with muscle. It's good to model a game after a fantastic one.

Re: Video Game Ideas
That's pretty awesome, dude.

I was inspired by Fable II, mainly, which may be similar to Fallout 3. The game would have a rather complex relationship system.Your character could be male or female, and can form a relationship with almost any character. Other characters in your party can form relationships, too. It can be frustrating at times, but realistic. You may want to ask a party membr to marry you, but then find her having sex with another party member. You will be ble to he children, too. If a party member is active in combat and becomes pregnant, after a while she may want to rest, and you should escort her to a village or town. If a pregnant party member is killed, dialogue between characters will show lots of remorse. Oh, and, by the way, you can have no party members, or just a few, or all of them. The party system is completely optional. While they'll help you in your objetives, you'll have to get food for them. The food system is very simple: There are five types of food: Bread, which restores your health. Fruits and Vegetables, that restore your agility. Meat, which restores your strength. Sweets, that restore your energy. Alcohol, that restores your morale. There would be no visible HUD. At first, the health, agility, strength, energy, and morale bars would be invisible, but, a medical device could be bought for checking those fields. There would be three types of food in each category. For bread, for example, the system would be flatbread--> biscuits--> apple bread. In the game you can buy a house, and furnish it, and even expand it to a whole town. It would be very similar to your Villa from Assassin's Creed II. There you could store weapons, food, and any items you pick up. Back to the relationship system, you can court, marry, and have sex with almost any character, in any order. You would have a karma system, also. You could attempt to rape a character, or kill a civilian, and your karma would go very far down. If you rape multiple characters, or kill many civilians, your karma would go so far down that characters would fear you greatly, even your party members. Sleeping with prostitutes, stealing expensive things, and even just breaking a pot could make your karma level go down. By giving poor people food or money, donating to build something, or saving someone's life, you gain karma. Again, back to the relationship system, when your chacter has sex, nohng is really shown. If it is in a tent, you'd see the sillouettes of the characters. If it's in your house, the camera would hide is somehow, blocking it with a table, or something. If people are interrupted during sex, they will come out naked, covering their genitals or breasts and quickly putting their clothes on. You can have multiple wives, as many as you want. You can have up to three wives in any one place, but having other families in other towns can make your karma go down. You just live with multiple concubines if you want, instead of having multiple wives. If you impregnate a woman you're not married to, she may getmad and leave you. Again, other characters can marry and love other characters. There would be lots of dialogue in the game, similar to Left 4 Dead's, but a higher quantity of it. If a character in your party is killed, the characters would lament that for the whole game. If a character gives birth, she can take her child with her, if she wishes, while fightig werewolves and demons. I hope this doesn't seem like objectification, but, if you have a more attractive wife, people will coment on that and compliment you. Again, you can have a village and multiple other houses. For example, you could have a penthouse in Brundst, or a cottage in a small village. The apartment would cost much, much more than the cottage, of course. Also, you could buy lots of clothes, for yourself and others. There would be clothing stores, armories, lengerie stores, and other types. There would also be an economic system. If you are getting married, you can pay lots of money to have it done at a large cathedral. If it is a wedding with multiple brides, you cannot do it at a church. Your children can grow up, also. Buy the time the game ends, if you have children early, they will be in their early teens. All charactes would age, except vampires, powerful demons, and succubbi. You can marry vampires and succubbi, though people will hate you. Just like Fable II, you can purchase condoms made of sheepskin. Cheap condoms can result in pregnancy, though. I'm sorry for this huge wall of text.

Re: Video Game Ideas
You'd have to develop a VERY complex NPC system for that to work properly. It sounds like your taking all of really good RPGs and throwing them all together.
Not that its a bad idea, it just sounds like it'd have its problems, and it'd be very complicated to create.

Re: Video Game Ideas
The game won't be made for, like, ten years, if it is made.
The technology would probably readily availible by then. The Sims 2 and 3 basically demonstrate this, the Sims 3 especially. As I said, you can furnish your house in different ways. You can make it like a french chateau, very posh on the inside, or a very plain brick home that has a huge master bedroom with leapord-skin sheets, and red lights, if you know what I mean. You could purchase a theme, or you could buy each piece of furniture individually. Also, you could hire servants to keep it clean, and hire a bodyguard, to preventa vampire assassin, or someone, from murdering you in the night.

Re: Video Game Ideas
That's very true. I shouldn't count my chickens before they're hatched, but, as I said, the technology would probably be readily availible.
Also, the game would have real-time cutscenes that could be viewed not as a cutcene, but as a first-person scripted event.

Re: Video Game Ideas
Well, there would be different ways. Seeing a cutscene in third person could reveal plot details, like a character removing a knife and about to stab another, something that would be hard to see in first person. Some cutscenes, like sex and childbirth, or someone being operated on, would be mandatorily third person.

Re: Video Game Ideas
A game of tag.
And the players would be able to pull off some insane moves like long jumps, fast running, and a bunch of character-specific special moves I can't be bothered to think out. The goal of the game is to not be "it" when the time (or other game modes could basically make it so you can't be "it" at all, otherwise you die. Or something). You're "it" if the one who is "it" gets you (as in, touches you, whereupon you will glow red). No story whatsoever. Up to four players in local multiplayer, twelve online. The characters would range between anything from small kids to old men in jetpacks. Realism won't be so important, and there'll be some cartoon-like humor and effects in there (like being flattened if something heavy falls on you, instead of being crushed with blood and gore spilling out everywhere). There would be several stages to choose from, like a large city with skyscrapers, a thick forest, a mountain landscape (with a volcano), a snowland, a desert with pyramids, a jungle, outer space, etcetra etcetra. Every stage would have alternate sceneries, like a city having buildings and also underground sewers that you could fly through, or with the forest there could also be a lake where you would be able to move underwater. There would probably be a range of items, like temporary speed boosts or certain abilities granted for a limited time (elastic arms come to mind - your arm just shoots out and grabs someone who is far away), of course depending on whether you're "it" or not. Getting these items wouldn't be all that easy like in Mario Kart, nor would it be random like in Smash Bros. They would be few in numbers and found scattered across the different stages. That was a really improvised idea.
