Godzilla: Save the Earth

The sequel to the slightly mediocre video game "Godzilla Destroy all Monsters Melee" will be coming out now this year. With new graphics, new modes and many new characters, it's sure to be a huuuuuuge game! *no pun intended* Sadly though it will not be coming out for gamecube, only for X-Box and Playstation 2 *but hey I'm getting PS2 for my birthday this summer ^_~* There aren't many screenshots out yet to the public, but here's an idea of what it might look like-

And now here's half of the confirmed roster of kaiju! Pics and info both come from Toho Kingdom.com-

- It's not known at the moment if Anguirus will be playable or not, the monster was seen only during the loading screen of the E3 demo, but given current rumors about the past roster returning in full force this is most likely the case.

- One of the most popular Heisei creations, and rumored to be in the game since its "Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters 2" days, Biollante was one of the first to be confirmed.

- An early confirmation in the days coming up to the annual E3 show, Destoroyah is said to be featured in one of the 'Action mode' levels, where he will be awakened from the sea.

- An addition out of "left field", Ebirah appears to be the first kaiju in the game who will likely serve a exclusive "non-playable" role, like Hedorah and Mothra in Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. The giant crustacean appears in the underwater levels of "Action mode."

- One of Godzilla's most popular villains. Gigan was immensely popular in the first, and was one of the first kaiju announced for the game; consequently, he was also one of the first announced for its sequel: Godzilla: Save the Earth.

- Probably the most popular incarnation of Godzilla. The Heisei Godzilla will return for the sequel, Godzilla: Save the Earth, once again under the name Godzilla 90's.

- The first true surprise, it would appear that rights over the character have been resolved with Tsuburaya for Jet Jaguar.

- Another early confirmation, its likely that King Ghidorah will once again be a hybrid mix of several incarnations of King Ghidorah, like in the first game.

- A none too surprising addition to the cast, as he appeared in both the Japanese version of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee for the Gamecube and the Xbox port.

Kiryu is rumored to have his move-list completely revamped, although early reports are saying otherwise.

As more news arrives, I'll be posting it here! ^_~

I have the first one for Xbox, and it's awesome if you are a huge Godzilla fan like I am. I can't wait for this next one!

Hmm, Toho Kingdom is failing me with those banners. I'll get those fixed.

Jet Jaguar hated? Blasphemy! He kicks butt! Now GINO is another story ^_~

Re: Godzilla: Save the Earth

Why no Cube?! Destroy All Monsters Melee came out on Cube before any other console. I can only assume that they are bowing to the almighty dollar. Destroy All Monsters Melee rocked but I want a Godzilla game where you play as a soldier in the army that inevitably shows up at one of Godzilla's showdowns and gets in the way (how rude). You could fly helicopters, drive that freezy tank or go up and punch Godzilla in the foot before being made flatter than a three year old Coca-Cola.

Re: Godzilla: Save the Earth

Umm...just a question. Don't you think it'd be degrading to him if you managed to beat Goji with the military?

Here's the rest of the confirmed list, again everything from Toho Kingdom.com-

- Featured prominently in adverts for Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, Mechagodzilla's, from the Heisei series, inclusion in the sequel isn't very surprising, especially if the rumors of a revamped move list for Kiryu pan out.

- Another early confirmation, and one of the first kaiju to be shown with an in-game screenshot. Hopefully, the character will get his move-list reworked to separate him from simply being a King Ghidorah clone.

- Having her film, Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000), being recently released in the US made her inclusion in Godzilla: Save the Earth none too surprising.

- Although not as popular as his Showa and Heisei counterparts, he does have the advantage of being in the most recent Godzilla film brought to theaters in the states. Hopefully his rage attack will be changed to the "finisher" which he used to kill Orga at the end of Godzilla 2000: Millennium (1999).

- A cult favorite, who appears to have struck a cord with the higher ups at Atari/Pipeworks with his starting role in Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee and Godzilla: Domination. Megalon's inclusion comes as no surprise.

- Confirmed by Gamespot, during their early E3 report, M.O.G.U.E.R.A. is reported to hold a key role in one of the rail type shooter stages found in the level, as he will blast obstacles on his way to Earth.

-A early confirmation, and expected considering the amount of heat the first game received from reviewers concerning her absence. It's unknown right now what version of Mothra will appear in the game.

- It's not known at the moment if Rodan will be playable or not, the monster was seen only during the loading screen of the E3 demo, but given current rumors about the past roster returning in full force this is most likely the case.

- A kaiju with a more than modest cult following, and rumored to be in the game since its "Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters 2" days, SpaceGodzilla another one of the kaiju who was first to be confirmed. In Godzilla: Save the Earth, SpaceGodzilla will be able to float around the battle field, create crystals in the ground, and lift buildings with telekinesis.

Spacegodzilla= lots of fun ^_~

I never said the military would win, just that they would try to win. Your job would be to try and get the best possible result. Godzilla would always win but you could try to limit the amount of destruction your city is experiencing. Or maybe the military sides with Godzilla and helps him beat up the other monster that showed up uninvited to the city. I just reckon it'd be cool to fly a helicopter around a huge city, narrowly avoiding Godzilla's atomic breath. Driving the freezy tank and having Godzilla's foot smash down right in front of you.

Godzilla: Save the Day should be on Cube I says! Dagnammit!

Re: Godzilla: Save the Earth

On second thought, that's kinda cool. Not cool enough to be an entire game in my mind, but certainly as a secondly game-mode ^_~

Great news! A new kaiju has been confirmed!! Baragon! Yep, the lil bundle of energy himself with officially be in the game! From what it seems he'll be a mix of the Showa and GMK versions! And his heat ray will finally be powerful XD!!

Here's a pic to prove it!

And just to add a lil discussion to this thread...

Who do you hope makes the rest of the list?

Re: Godzilla: Save the Earth

Although it will never happen, I think it'd be bad ass to have King Kong in this game. King Kong vs. Godzilla is my favorite Godzilla movie.
