Hideo Kojima is a "Twitard"

It turns out that Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is a huge fan of Twilight. He's even serving as a judge in a Twilight manga fanart contest.

This just seems rather surreal. The image of Solid Snake curled up in a corner reading one of those books is rather disturbing. O_o

Seriously though, why does it matter?

Even the most talented people have guilty pleasures. But why is Kojima into vampires recently? He's also working on that new 3d Castlevania as well.

I thought you mean he was a Twitter fan for a second. Oh well, as long as he continues to make good games, I don't care.

I'm going to have to pay more attention to the "fangirl encounters" on the Twilight Sucks forums.

I feel... distraught. But after thinking about it for a bit, it kinda makes sense.

That's... er.... well, I guess it just is.
Tons of people like things I bash endlessly, and I don't hold it against them. (At least when it comes to entertainment preference.)

It matters because there has always been an unspoken promise to players that they would be able to experience what true manliness felt like once they picked up a Kojima game. . .

That promise has now been broken, and the trust of those players has now been forever alienated.

I really don't think it matters much.

Kojima's products aren't similar to Twilight at all, so it's not like, "So THAT explains it." His flawed stories in MGS2 and MGS4 are not attributed to why Twilight is a flawed story at all.

It has little to do with the games and more to do with the perception of the man. We as a gaming society have placed him upon a pedestal of hairy chested coolness. It is only natural that all of humanity is now left dazed and confused as a response to learning that the gatekeeper of our collective coming-of-age is a fan of something that's cool to bash on the internet.

Yeah, that threw me off, as well.

Seriously, while I can't say I agree, it should be pretty obvious that he's a fan of vampires.

I mean, come on, look how long Vamp was able to last, and how long it took before Hideo finally had the guts to have him finally keel over.

Yeah, but it's not like Vamp is meant to be the annoying flawless beautiful creature that Edward is--I found Vamp a form of a kind of absurd comic relief in a way. For example, the peculiar placement of his knife, the almost comedic chest hair, the loose, long tongue that licks all around, etc.

Raiden's a little closer, I suppose, again...I don't really see any influence. The most it may have had was some obscure Easter Egg reference or something, which I don't really care about.

I think Hideo's a funny guy and I find this new found fact to make him even more entertaining.

Wow. I never knew such a thing could be true.

I'm a huge fan of his work. As an aspiring author, I find his story, which spanned an entire series of great games, to be a very well-written and well-developed (okay, maybe not so much that, but damn is it awesome) piece of fiction.

But everyone has guilty pleasures, I suppose. I know I do. Not much can be done about this at this point, so meh. -_-

Muchado about nothing really, so he likes Twilight, I like Greys Anatomy does that make me a chick?

I like Sailor Moon and I almost cried while watching Elfen Lied and American History X, does that makes me less of a man?

Makes me like the Twilight saga even more .
