Valkyrie Profile series

I know theres about three games now in the VP series. I havent played the DS title so like, i have no idea what thats all about. (oh yeah also the Lenneth remake on PSP)

I have the first one on PSX. That game is freaking awesome. Its odd how its a bit of a downer of a game. I mean its really depressing. You as Lenneth Valkyrie, witness the deaths of various people and take them and train them to be Einherjar. The stories are really sad in most cases. (Yumei, Lucian especially) But its so well done, you cant help but enjoy yourself.

I love the battle system. ITS SO MUCH FUN! Its easy to understand too. The skill system is easy and straight forward. As Einherjar level up, they get skill points and you just allocate em where ever, or you meet the requirements that Freya asks you to meet. I love how its a side scrolling RPG with the platforming element in there. Using crystals to get to higher spots, etc.
Great, great game.

Valkyrie Profile 2 was a huge let down for me. The story was actually pretty good and it did connect to the first game (being a prequel actually) but the gameplay and stuff wasnt as fun. Thats what really disappointed me. The battle system seemed clunky and hard to manuver, it was difficult for your party to level, and the Einherjar in that game was a joke. Half the time, i was too busy trying to keep my main party (The Jack Sparrow lookin dude, Lezard, Dylan and the main character, plus Arngrim and Leone) all leveled up so they dont get slaughtered, that i hardly had time for the Einherjar. I found it lacking good balance. Plus i didnt like Alicia/Silmeria very much like i did Lenneth.

So what about you? Also if you played the DS title, tell me how it is!

Re: Valkyrie Profile series

Valkyrie profile 2: Far too complex for my liking. First I have to wonder who this princess is, then she shouts a loud of high fantasy **** about spirits I don't understand. God, I just find no happiness playing this game.

Re: Valkyrie Profile series

I have not played the games (yet) But I have seen the anime.
Some friends o'mine say once they played the game, they can no longer watch the anime for obvious reasons (apparently). So, I guess it's better to watch the anime inb4 playing the games.
I do not own any PS systems, but I'll definitely try it on a DS.
