An FPS similar to Half-Life 2

So, you guys can tell me if being stupid or not. But I thought Half-Life 2 was excellent. Not that outlandish, a lot of people did. My favorite thing about it was that there was a continuous stream of first person perspective. Whenever there was a cut-scene it was from the perspective of Gordon and would smoothly flow to immediate game-play. Apart from this the physics were fantastic. More companies are beginning to use Havok Physics solely because of this game's good review.

My question is, Why isn't there a game similar to this for the Wii? I'm talking pretty good graphics, continuous fp perspective, and good physics with the advantage of the wii remote and nunchuck giving more of a virtual feel to the game play. I understand that the graphics rendering isn't near as good as the Xbox360 but regardless I can see it being feasible to create such a game. What do you guys think?

All three Prime's are available for the Wii, and if you haven't played through them, then there's no reason why not to.

I heard the new Dead Space is very story focused, and constantly uses the first person perspective... Aside from that there's really not a lot that I could reccomend...

I know it's on other consoles, but have you tried the episodes? or Half-Life 1? Also, doesn't this belong in the game recommendations thread?

Actually, it's entirely third-person, but it does keep the same perspective at all times, even during cut scenes, making it that more immersive.

Oh, and, Bioshock.

Half-life 2 episodes 1 and 2.
Honestly if you have a PC that can play Half-life then you can play the esisodes as well. (Unless of course you played the Xbox version)

New Dead Space (ie Dead Space: Extraction) for the Wii is a first-person on-rails shooter.

Didn't see "new" there. Still, the original Dead Space is notable for not having cutscenes except for the beginning and end. Everything else maintains perspective. Even the menus.

I liked Dead Space, but I wouldn't really compare it to Half-Life 2.

Re: An FPS similar to Half-Life 2

Metroid prime isn't anything like Half-life.

There simply isn't a shooter on the wii that isn't anything like half-life. which what he's asking, guys.

and the reason is because FPS's don't sale one the wii.

Mostly because Red Steel was horrible,CoD on the wii is horrible the conduit was horrible.

I really don't think a true FPS can work on the Wii.

Re: An FPS similar to Half-Life 2

You said you liked Half-Life 2? Have you played Half-Life, Half-Life Blue Shift, or Half-Life Opposing Force? Half-Life and Half-Life: OP are both much better than Half-Life 2, in my opinion. You should consider picking up Half-Life 1 Anthologies from the Steam store.

They are on other consoles, but you shouldn't play them on any console.

I hate this attitude. I played through every single Half-Life on a console, so what?

Thumb sticks, relatively bad graphics/performance, no mods, costs extra, bad online play.

okay,
  1. 'Thumb sticks' aren't that bad, and any advantage mouse/keyboard has over dual analogue has, in my experience, been vastly exagerated.
  2. At least I put it in the console and it ♥♥♥♥ing runs. I enjoy the simplicity of buying a game and knowing it will work no matter the money I've invested into the hardware.
  3. The fact that mods exist does that have any bearing on the Quality of the Half-Life series as games themselves. You weren't saying there are advantages to playing them on PC, but that it is not even worth buying them on a console at all, which is stupid.
  4. That's funny, because Orange Box cost exactly the same on PC as it did on 360.
  5. Team Fortress works in every regard except that it hasn't been updated alongside the PC version. Once again, this has nothing to do with the Half-Life series, and frankly I couldn't give a toss about Team Fortress.
I'm not saying that the console versions are better, since it's obvious Valve put the majority of work into the PC versions. What I am saying is that The game design didn't magically get worse just because it's not on PC.

Re: An FPS similar to Half-Life 2

Keyboard and mouse are better.

It's a shame no developers would put the time in to create something similar to Half Life on the Wii, because the motion controls would add that little more to the immersion. But we've been saying that for years now.

Bioshock took a leaf out of Half Life's book, Zora Rider, why not check that out?
(most would argue that it actually took more then a few leaves out of System Shock 2's book, but whatever)

Re: An FPS similar to Half-Life 2

Yeah, Metroid Prime trilogy is great, but it's nothing like Half Life... And every other FPS in Wii is pure crap. Well, almost 95% Wii games are pure crap, but that's another story.

I recommend you System Shock 2, it's one of the greatest games of all time in my opinion, and Half Life is somehow similar to this game.
Bioshock is great too, it's like the spiritual sequel to System Shock 2.
Besides that, even if it's not too much like Half Life, I recommend you Portal, you can get it with the Orange Box, and it's a GREAT game.
