Re: Animal Crossing City Folk Question
If you haven't played an AC game before, it's worth buying.
If you have played an AC game before, however, then it is absolutely not worth buying, on account of it being the same game in different packaging with some gimmicky city added on, and the city does not come close to justifying paying full price for a game you have already played.

Re: Animal Crossing City Folk Question
Well, if you already own or have played the first game and Wild World, expect it to be like a mix between both of those games with a few added features and a few taken away ones. If you've already played the first two, it won't seem like much of an upgrade from the previous games, but if you've only played one then it might seem newer.
The town is basically the same, but a bit bigger than before, and there's the city now... but that just seems like a hub for all the things that were only temporarily there in other games to be permanently fixed in place. And as Silver said, it's probably not worth the money if you've played the other games. It's just too similar, and gimmicky. Anyway, for more information and a better insight on City Folk (especially the differences and similarities between it and the other games) I suggest you read IGN's review: http://wii.ign.com/articles/930/930689p1.html

Re: Animal Crossing City Folk Question
Sure thing, Tanooki!
Pros: + Combines the best features of the previous two games to make it the most well-rounded title + New features like Wii Speak, the Mii Masks, and downloadable content are fun to play around with + Dialogue, as usual, is hilarious + Great new and old characters + Great Holidays + Still as addicting as ever + Cool new clothing features (designing the fronts, sleeves, and backs of shirts separately) + Awesome new accessories like Majora's Mask, Link's Hat, Samus' Helmet Cons: - Little to no new content added, so it feels almost exactly the same as the DS game - The city, while interesting, mostly recycles characters from previous games and sticks them together in one location - The music and graphics, though sharper, are recycled from the DS game - The grass in your town begins to disappear the more you walk/run on it, leaving ugly brown spots that never go away It's a great game, but there isn't too much that you haven't already seen if you've played the past two titles. I would say that it's the best of the three, but it definitely didn't deliver enough new content to make it feel fresh. It's a worthy purchase if you can stomach that "been there, done that" feeling. ![]()

Re: Animal Crossing City Folk Question
Pretty much what the others said-- if you've never played an Animal Crossing game before, you'll have a lot of fun with it, but if you've played the other two, it is just a retread with a couple mildly interesting features.
In other words, it's not new at all, but it may be new to you. EDIT: I just re-read "I am a huge Animal Crossing fan" in your first post, so that implies you've played the series before. I still say that if you've played only one (i.e., either Wild World or the GameCube version) you can still have fun with this since it sorta mixes the two together, but if you've played both, City Folk simply isn't worth it at all.

Re: Animal Crossing City Folk Question
I wouldn't get it if you already have ACWW. Its like a mix of both ACGC and ACWW, only with far too much ACWW and too little ACGC.

Re: Animal Crossing City Folk Question
I too am curious. I don't mean to steal Tanooki's thread, but I have some questions.
I have played both Animal Crossing games and I still play Wild World, besides it not being portable, is it a suitable replacement? Is the city fun or just okay? And is there new features that are big improvements from the original games that you can tell without spoiling? |

And the music was just taken from Wild World. What the hell is that?! If you're gonna be lazy, at least take the music that was good, from ACGC!

Re: Animal Crossing City Folk Question
Nope, don't do it.
The city sucks, I see it more as a -point then + point, it drains playability because your getting less visitors now. After one or 2 visits you'll probably be done with it. And nope, no major improvements really.

Re: Animal Crossing City Folk Question
Don't buy it. Do not let Nintendo have even another cent for this worthless rehash.
If you want details, here's an older post of mine on this: Quote:
