Re: What's are your favorite games on the Nintendo 64? (Besides OoT and MM)
Lets see. Here are my top 10 without mentioning the Zelda titles.
Super Smash Brothers Many hours were spent with this title, at first it was alone as my mates didn't see a point of a Nintendo-Themed Fighting title. But as soon as they tried it, they were hooked the same as i was. I still remember all the hours spent in unlocking Luigi and Ness as playable characters, half of them frustrating. Still, it is all good fun 3 Smash titles down the line. WWF No Mercy The best N64 Wrestling title ever made. That is how i describe this amazing title. It still holds the best way to unlock Superstars, being the 100+ man Royal Rumble. Always was a challenge to complete this. And one of the best Career modes as well, which to be fair followed some of the "real" WWE stories. Multi-player was great, and the Create-A-Superstar mode was packed with features, and unlike this years Smackdown title you could create alternative wrestling gear for every Superstar on the roster. So, if you wanted HBK in shorts it was possible. Banjo Kazooie The original Banjo title, and in my eyes it was the best. I loved how you could set completion times anytime, unlike the XBLA version which gave you one attempt at setting a time before near enough "making" you re-do the whole game to try again. I don't know to be fair, it had something to it that made it special. Super Mario 64 The original 3D Mario platformer, it was amazing. The way that the Castle was the main hub for the game, with each level located within a portrait of a particular section of the level. And it even had secret sections within the Castle where a new power or a star was able to be unlocked to aid the quest. And, there was a secret unlock once the full 120 stars were unlocked. Goldeneye 007 In my eyes, this was the best 007 game ever made. It still is one of the best movie games ever made as well. How Rare managed to make levels out of only locations still amazes me to this day. For example, making a full level for the Dam, locating Trevelyan's Military Train and a level based on the Ship where the hidden Tiger Helicopter was "stolen". The Multi-player was awesome as well. People will remember settings for a "Mine" level, which always caused arguments. Me personally, i had settings for Knifes or Fist-Only battles. Always annoying. Perfect Dark The best shooter since Goldeneye, only a pity it doesn't age as well as Goldeneye has. Only time will tell when the XBLA version of Perfect Dark comes out. This game had in my eyes a better Multi-player than Goldeneye had. And if anyone didn't create an Army of Shigsys as bots in battles, then to be fair you didn't fully play the game. Single player was great, even had a change from Human enemies to the Alien kind later in the game. And for a change, this title had a hub-style area where a Shooting Range was available and a fully explorable Institute. Mario Kart 64 Mario Kart, how i remember thee. All the great memories of races on the Rainbow Road still hold high-up in my gaming memories. It had a great selection of tracks to race on, some of which are available now on the DS and Wii versions of the game in the Classic Cups. Memories are still fond to this day of all the races i had with my mates. Conkers Bad Fur Day An Adult-Themed Plat-former!!!. Some gaming rules are meant to be followed, some to be broken. This game broke some of these rules, but with the breaking came the creation of new rules. I always remember the times when i hit the Scarecrow with some "extreme" uses of certain words. Yes, Rare did try hard to cover these up but some could be made out even with the "bleep" covering it up. And all the squirrel wanted to do was to go home.!!! Star Wars: Rouge Squadron The first of the 3 Rouge Squadron games. All themed nicely on Star Wars scenes featured in the 3 original movies, including Tatooine, the Death Star and Hoth. And it even held the longest hidden secret known, the Naboo Star-fighter. An excellent title which remained in my collection for many years. Donkey Kong 64 Some people found this a bad title, a rip of Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie which did it right. I found this title to be quite a good one. The way you could change between the various Kong members at a specific location(s), once you have rescued them from various captivities. I found this good, but didn't like the whole "must need an expansion pak" to play.

Re: What's are your favorite games on the Nintendo 64? (Besides OoT and MM)
Hmmmm...Let's see...
Banjo Kazooie/Tooie- Dang, how I loved those games! I must have played through each one like 10 times. I remember how I got Tooie first, then after I finished it, it took me forever to find Kazooie, but I was so happy when I did! Paper Mario- Lots of great memories from this game. This is the game that I'm most likely to replay on my N64 once in a while. Although it isn't my favorite Paper Mario game, its still one of the greatest games I've played. Donkey Kong 64- This is actually the very first N64 game I've owned, and actually the first game I've ever owned myself (I had a Sega Genesis, but that and all the games was given to me by a cousin). I used to play my neighbor's DK 64 and fell in love with it right away. Its actually the game I credit with getting me truly into video games in the first place. Mario Party 2,3- Again, I have many memories of playing these with my friends and family when I was young. Lets face it: This is when Mario Party was at its best! The first one was alright, but not good enough to make it on this list. Mario Kart 64- Very first Mario game I've played! I still play this quite a bit. Super Mario 64- No-brainer. One of the best games of all time, simply put.

Re: What's are your favorite games on the Nintendo 64? (Besides OoT and MM)
OoT and MM are my two favorite games of all times, so obviously they loom large when I look back on the N64 era. However, the console had plenty of awesome games even when disregarding those two masterpieces. Here is a round-up of my favorite non-Zelda N64 games:
Perfect Dark Easily my favorite FPS, Perfect Dark blew Goldeneye out of the water and was in many ways far ahead of its time. In terms of gameplay it was like Goldeneye, only better and more polished, the multiplayer was one of the best ever, there were tons and tons of different modes, the replayability was almost limitless, the weapons were amazing, the graphics were stunning by N64-standards and the soundtrack was excellent as well. Paper Mario One of my last N64 games was also one of the best. It was such a blast of fresh air when it came out, started off great and just got better and better the more you played it, to the point where even the credit roll was brilliant (anyone who has finished Paper Mario will back me up on this). The game was just so much fun, so well designed, so genuinely funny and full of cool references to past Mario games that you just never wanted it to end. A wonderful experience, no doubt about it. Jet Force Gemini One of the more overlooked Rare classics for the N64, Jet Force Gemini is nonetheless an absolutely massive, epic space opera that will last you a long, long while. Not only was it totally huge, it was also great fun and a real challenge even for the hardcore gamer (Mizar was brutal!). It delivered in terms of variety too, and featured three unique playable characters, plenty of big, honking weapons and a surprisingly solid multiplayer-mode (this was when Rare started adding multiplayer-modes to what would normally be just singleplayer games). Not to mention, the graphics were fantastic for the time and the soundtrack was even better. Banjo-Tooie Another Rareware classic, Banjo Tooie is my favorite out of all their 3D platformers. It is basically Banjo-Kazooie on steroids, which I consider to be a good thing. There is just so much stuff to see and do, so much fun to be had, and that is without even bringing up the impressive multiplayer mode. Like most of the old Rare games, Tooie is also stunning on a technical level, really pushing the N64 to its limits. Castlevania 64 & Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness Two incredibly underrated games. I just loved the N64 Castlevania adventures, due to the killer atmosphere, lots and lots of awesome bosses, good storylines, a fantastic soundtrack and some really cool weapons. Multiple playable characters, multiple endings and various secret goodies also gave the games really good replay-value. Legacy of Darkness is definitely the better and more complete game of the two (Castlevania 64 1.5 describes it pretty well), but the original Castlevania 64 is to this day still good fun. Rayman 2 Another third party favorite, Rayman 2 is linear 2D platforming at its very best (at least it was until Mario Galaxy came out). It is an enormously entertaining, superbly structured and well paced game full of memorable set pieces. The fact that it is one of the prettiest, most colorful N64 games available doesn't hurt either. Star Fox 64 Quite simply a fantastic space shooter, action packed and full of excitement, memorable characters, cool bosses and awesomeness in general. The different routes to Venom and the medal-system added plenty of replay-value, while the great music gave the game a really cool atmosphere. The basic, yet very enjoyable multiplayer mode also deserves a mention. Donkey Kong 64 Perhaps the ultimate collect-a-thon, but a dang good one. Tons of stuff to do, five playable characters with plenty of cool abilities, dozens and dozens of fun mini-games, some really cool bosses and of course, excellent graphics and sound. Even the multiplayer was pretty good. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron I actually like this game a lot better than the visually stunning, but overly hard and frustrating Rogue Leader for the GameCube. Anyway, this was a console Star Wars game done right, with plenty of interesting missions, all the classic ships (even a Tie Interceptor and the Naboo Starfighter) playable, a surprisingly good story, some really cool cheat codes and extremely strong replay-value due to its excellent medal-system. The atmosphere is Star Wars through and through, just the way I like it. F-Zero X Still one of my favorite racing games. It boasts an incredibly sense of speed, a huge number of ships and tracks, not to mention really cool course design and a 4-player mode (the SNES game didn't even have a multiplayer-mode). Sin and Punishment A sick mix of crazy awesome and just plain crazy (if you want an example, just look at the final boss battle), this is a 3D on-rail shooter every bit as challenging as the classic 2D ones, where kill counts in the thousands are routine and bosses are coming thick and fast. An adrenaline-pumping roller coaster ride you do not want to miss! Those are my favorites, and no, I did not forget about the likes of Mario 64 and Goldeneye, I just simply happen to own a number of N64 games I like better than them, simple as that. |

Re: What's are your favorite games on the Nintendo 64? (Besides OoT and MM)
Super Mario 64 - First Mario platformer I ever owned, and it was fun to play.
Mario Kart 64 - First game for the N64. I played the hell out of this game, and I still do. Banjo-Tooie - This wondeful game needs no description. Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 - Pokemon battles in 3D, what more could you ask for? Castlevania 64 - Just bought this game, it's great, just very underrated. Jet Force Gemini - Also just bought this game. It's great, and I was suprised too. RARE did a great job on this game. Gex 2 - On my list of top platformers, along with Mario 64 and Sunshine. Rocket: Robot on Wheels - Another great puzzle platformer, created by the Sly Cooper team. Snowboard Kids - Played the living hell out of this game. Star Fox 64 - Three words: DO A BARRELROLL Super Smash Brothers - First Smash bros., one of the best too. Donkey Kong 64 -It's such a long game, it's well worth the money. Yoshi's Story - I regret selling this game. It's a wonderful sidescroller for the N64, one every N64 owner needs to paly atleast once. Kirby and the Crystal Shards - Put a bomb and a shuriken together and what do you get? Kirby throwing exploding shurikens of course.
