Yes, I ♥♥♥♥ing love Genesis in Crisis Core. For one thing, he's pretty much the reason for all the games that take place after Crisis Core chronologically. It was because of him that Sephiroth eventually learned the truth of his origin (at least, I think so, but that is up for debate), and I'm relatively certain he was used as part of the Deepground project in Dirge of Cerberus. Also, I think it's cool how he ties the whole thing together using Loveless. There was one particular verse that I always loved hearing him use:

Agreed. I also thought that his inexperience and more emotionally open personality, as well as his feminine looks were a nice contrast to the uber-masculine Solid Snake.

Though, most people pre-MGS4 had more of a negative view on him, unfortunately, which resulted in little things like this:

(I can't help but love the comic, though).

Also, I quite enjoy Tingle's presence in Zelda games.

EDIT: Nobody likes Shadow the Hedgehog? I'd think that Amy Rose was the most hated Sonic character...

Well, he wanted to stop the degradation, so he tried to find a means to find it (something he codenamed "the gift of the goddess", due to his love of Loveless). He had first tried to do so using Hollander, but Hollander was a ♥♥♥♥ty scientist, so that didn't work. Eventually, he finds out about Project S, and meets with Sephiroth in Nibelheim (I imagine he even had something to do with the reactor problem that brought them all there), and explained things to him, saying that Sephiroth's cells were the cure for the degradation, but Sephiroth doesn't give him the cells. He then targets Cloud, because he has pure S cells thanks to the experiments he and Zack were put through (which makes me wonder if Zack and Cloud were capable of having wings), but eventually realizes that the cure is the Lifestream. Along the way, he decides to destroy the world saying
"Even if the morrow is barren of promises,
nothing shall forestall my return.
If this world seeks my destruction...
... It goes with me!"
