Characters you like that everyone else hates

I hate practically everyone who's been named in this topic :/. In fact, I think I was the one who started hating on Waluigi in the NSMB topic. I am a hateful person.

As for my own example. Ummm... Actually, no, having quickly looked over my games shelf, I think I'm just a swirling vortex of hate.

I loved Raiden. I thought he was a 99% accurate representation of a video game player who's put into Snake's situation, which is what he was intended to be. A video game player placed into Snake's situation, so that he can become like Snake.

I'm going to be murdered for this. Here goes...

A lot of people really found Johnny Klebetz to be a boring protagonist in Lost and the Damned. I rather enjoyed his character..

This doesn't mean I liked that mess of a game that bore his name on the cover, but I do have a lot of childhood memories related to Sonic Adventure 2. He may have sort of been the beginning of a downhill slope for the Sonic franchise, but I do like Shadow when he stays away from guns and curse words!

I don't get what dumbassery caused this guy to be hated. Is it because he's creepy, being a middle-aged guy who wants to be a fairy? Well no ****, that's the point, and it works. That's why I like him; the character perfectly accomplished the "creepy, eccentric" guy feel.



He's as hated as he is loved. I normally don't get all pissed when someone legitimately finds him uninteresting as a character; that's a respectable reason as to why someone wouldn't like him. However, most people dislike him for the wrong reasons; that is, they hate the character because they hate the fanbase.

Honestly, I was like this once, as I began to hate Ocarina of Time for a while because I hated the fanbase (Actually, the same goes for Sephiroth, as well; I used to highly dislike the character because of his fanbase, but that was a while ago, before I joined this site), but I found out that I was being stupid; I shouldn't let my opinion of the fanbase dictate my opinion of the game.



I honestly can't count how many times I've suggested that people should play FFIX because it's awesome and they went ahead and said that it "sucked," hardly giving it a chance, because they dislike the fact that the main character has a tail. What? Is that all; you don't like the fact that the main character is a monkey boy?

****, Goku's a monkey boy as well, but I don't see anyone complaining about him.

While these probably don't count as characters, I like nearly all the 4th gen Pokemon evolutions that some of the older Pokemon got. They get a lot of hate around these boards for some reason.

I like Ilia. I don't know why everyone seems to hate her though.

Yea. I never really saw her as annoying. I mean, I can freely make fun of her faults, but I can't really hate her at all. She's just a good character.

Actually, come to think of it, Illia sorta is TP's Malon.

Now here's my list:


King DeDeDe: Kirby Series.
I don't really understand why nobody likes this big fella. I thought he was awesome in every game he's been in, except maybe Kirby 64. Regardless, he's a really likable villain in my opinion, but that's probably just because of how adorable he is. Often times, when I'm playing a Kirby game, I find it hard to make myself dislike the guy. I remember one time I stopped playing for awhile because I didn't hate the villain enough.


Toad: Mario Series.
I don't know why nobody likes this kid either. People say he's another "annoying hint-giving character," like Navi, but unlike her, Toad usually doesn't give you any advice unless you ask for it. And how could you resist that face? Toad's my "Mario Game" character. Any time I play a multiplayer Mario game (i.e: Mario Tennis, Kart, Party, etc) I have to chose Toad. I don't know why, I guess he's my signature or something. I really like him.


Tali 'Zora Narr Raya: Mass Effect
So here's Bioware's obligatory "annoying accent girl" in Mass Effect. However, unlike Juhani, Tali's actually fun to have around: her curiosity made her a pretty interesting character. And oh yeah, she's actually useful in combat, too. Glad there's no romantic subplot though. She is suited for the "cute friend" role, at best.

And I thought she was hotter than Liara. Even with the 3 fingers and the ♥♥♥♥ed up legs. Liara was such a boring person. "HEY SHEPARD CARE ABOUT MY BORING HISTORY ♥♥♥♥ STUFF." Ugh.

Yeah but Liara was blue, which is like hottness +5 to sci-fi nerds.

Thats what I thought too. Actually Ilia is a bit more developed than Malon in some instances since she is actually part of the key plot.

Because tons of them suck. It has nothing to do with nost-- wait, why am I getting into this not in the Pokemon thread?
Two of my three favorite Pokemon come from the 4th gen, but I still think it sucks big-time overall.
EDIT: Oh, you're just talking about new evolutions to old ones?
....Yeah, still, most of them suck.
Magmortar, Electivire, Gliscor, and Rhyperior are forever on my ****list.

Oddly enough those 4 you pointed out are some of my favorites.
