Re: The New Super Mario Bros. Wii Thread of Great Level Design *CLAPCLAPCLAP*
I'm getting it regardless of the reviews. I didn't grow up with the 2D Mario platformers (I've only played bits and pieces of 2D Mario games, except for Yoshi's Island, which I finished), but I've heard of their greatness.
And I've always been a sucker for simple yet addictive gameplay. I will get this game.

Those videos look pretty good. It might take over from Mario Kart and Brawl as the most fun for game nights at my place with beer and pizza. I can already imagine the intelligent, stimulating conversation that's going to happen during the game:
"QUIT ♥♥♥♥ING JUMPING ON ME!" "FOR ♥♥♥♥'S SAKE, WOULD YOU STOP TAKING ALL THE ♥♥♥♥ING POWERUPS?!" "STOP RUNNING AHEAD, YOU'RE ♥♥♥♥ING US UP!" "HURRY UP, WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU FOR LIKE FIVE ♥♥♥♥ING MINUTES!" "YOU MOTHER ♥♥♥♥ER, YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE, I'M GONNA ♥♥♥♥ING RAPE YOU."

At E3 I was moderately interested in this game. Now it's my most anticipated title of this year. I know, I know that I'm gonna be playing this game with someone, be it my briother or cousin or even my dad.

I'm not that fond of the controls though, I hope its playable with the classic controller, but I doubt it.
I still haven't bought a second wiimote, so I should probably do that before buying the game.

Wait, please tell me you don't have to use the Wiimote to play this . . . the 1 and 2 buttons are too ♥♥♥♥ing small.

Re: The New Super Mario Bros. Wii Thread of Great Level Design *CLAPCLAPCLAP*
I've played Mega Man 9 with the Wii Remote. I can play Mario 3 with it as well, so I'm not going to have problems using that controller for this game.

Ah! Didn't know that. Well, using the Wiimote isn't a problem for me, but I was hoping it would support other controllers since I have 3 other roommates, and we only have 2 Wiimotes.

Grow up. The motion-controlled actions aren't possible on the GC or Classic controllers, and the Wiimote is the closest to the NES pad.

True, the Wiimote is probably the best method of playing this, but it is flawed. It isn't really NSMB's fault, it's a problem with the Wiimote itself. It doesn't have enough buttons, the buttons it does have are too small, and it doesn't fit comfortably in the hand.

The classic controller. It really doesn't matter to me if I can fly with shaking the wiimote or pressing the button.

I guess the second analog stick could easily replace that function, but, well, you know how Nintendo is.

Local and online play are equally as important as each other, though in Nintendo's case I prefer to see local multilayer because they make actually playing a game online so ♥♥♥♥ing difficult for everyone involved, and I happen to have the benefit of a few young gaming siblings. Generally, though, they're just the same thing for two different situations (ie. Your friend is at your home, your friend is at his home), and every game should have them as options, and, where possible, interlinked options where you can play local and online at the same time. NOM was a far better magazine, from what I remember of it. Funnier and more accurate. But I guess Nintendo needed to get their propaganda-wagon started somewhere. |

Re: The New Super Mario Bros. Wii Thread of Great Level Design *CLAPCLAPCLAP*
The waggle is just a substitute for pressing a button. Just like the waggle in Mario Kart Wii to do tricks, which you can play with a Classic Controller or Gamecube controller; the d-pad lets you pull off tricks, and you actually have more control over what trick you do (not that it matters) by pressing a different direction on the d-pad.

Crud. That blows. Not just that it forces us to use the Wiimote, but the feature itself sounds cruddy as well.
