Wrong. Galaxy was
far more of a platformer than 64 or Sunshine will ever be,
because of that linearity. We have Zelda for exploration, don't bring it into Mario. Mario was never about exploration, it was always about getting from A to B, where the difficulty always arose from actually doing it, not from trying to figure it out.
IMO, Galaxy was slightly easier than it should have been, but Sunshine was far too hard.

This doesn't make sense, since Galaxy was far more like the 2D Marios (which comprises the vast majority of Mario platformers) than 64 or Sunshine. If you enjoyed Galaxy less than 64 or Sunshine, chances are you didn't like the 2D Marios as much either, and prefer Zelda to Mario overall. Therefore you didn't really enjoy "any other Mario game" that much.

Sunshine = SMB2
Galaxy = SMB3
Galaxy 2 = SMW?
