Re: Most Epic Overworld Music
Already 100% it, so...
It's not even like I talk about that game all the time, pick a better example like TTYD or Mother 3 Also, this thread title is "epic overword" music. So ToS's wouldn't exactly quality as "epic" by my standards.

Tal Tal Mountains
Terranigma: Traversing Colorado I found myself traveling to the boonies again the other day, and loaded these on my Ipod before I went. I looped em both, along with the main theme from Grandia. For no reason in particular, I just started walking on for miles and miles, trecking through pathless fields and untamed landscapes. Ended up coming across a random cow. I tried whistling Epona's song to it, but it kinda started to chase after me.

Re: Most Epic Overworld Music
Searching for Friends is epic as it is beautiful. You just have to play Final Fantasy VI to know why it's epic. ****, I mean, the fact you're slowly regaining hope in a world that lost it and you're coming together to allied with lost friends is enough reason to why this song is epic/

A Link to the Past
Okami's Coast Music Ocarina of Time (Oh, when Zelda games were good and innovative). Final Fantasy VII, both the normal theme and The Highwind Takes to the Skies Final Fantasy VIII's Airship Theme. Final Fantasy IX Persona 4's Sunny Day Theme (Your Affection) And OMG GKang that Vesperia video makes me want to have my parents bring out my 360 ASAP.

I'm a big fan of the way GTA does things; gives you a bunch of radio stations and lets you pick your tune. Radio X in San Andreas, Vrock in Vice City, you can't go wrong. And no matter what anyone else tells you, Wave 103 is a cool station.

Yeah, and Twilight Princess is so much more innovative.

Re: Most Epic Overworld Music
Neither of them are. Two very traditional entries in the franchise. And my two favorites, in fact, OoT getting the nod ahead of TP.
But what does that have anything to do with what I said to Wonderful? Sounds like you're trying to bring back the argument from the Zelda boards. I thought you said you were done with that.

Ocarina of Time was traditional? I guess when you compare the two games from a 2009 perspective without taking into account that Ocarina of Time completely revolutionized that franchised.

It's easy to forget about that lovely little targeting system.

I'd personally say that Super Mario 64 was much more revolutionary.

I'm just saying though, the things that OoT pioneered and broke ground on are still being used today - the targeting, the context-sensitive action button, the situational music shifts - it's insane to discount OoT's impact.

Re: Most Epic Overworld Music
Everything from the Final Fantasy series counts; well, except for Final Fantasy VIII's overworld theme, which was kinda repetitive and dull (Of course, the rest of the game's music was very good; especially the battle themes, which were some of the best of the series).
Twilight Princess's overworld theme was pretty good. If you count Lost Odyssey's main theme as the overworld theme is merely a remix of it, then that is a good example (For clarification, the overworld theme is good, for about half a minute or so, until its transition in style, which I found completely overblown and unpleasant to listen to).
