To each his own, I guess. I thought it felt like work rather than story development.

That's true, but the thing is, he doesn't look like your everyday average person, he looks like your everyday average protagonist. And no, that's not an entirely bad thing, it's just a little bit played out, I guess.

And plus, when he's doing the actual assassinations, he's got flamboyant white robes on and a thousand weapons strapped to every inch of his body, so doesn't that make his generic appearance void?

Despite the many flaws Assassin's Creed had, I still found the game to be very enjoyable. Then again, I really enjoy free-roaming, platforming, stealth games.

I don't think we're gonna get anywhere arguing this. We'll just have to agree to disagree I guess.

Sailboat, this is Renaissance Italy. If the guards were told to go after the guy wearing flamboyant white robes a quarter of the city would be arrested.

Some of the new attacks look really good. The concealed gun is really neat and so is the double stab thing. I only hope it isn't as repetitive as the first one.

It looks like the story will be told in flashback.

I enjoyed the story, reading the emails and doing some research on what the symbols meant helps alot.

That's a relief. The one big flaw in AC was the repetitive missions.

What were the flaws of Assassin's Creed? The only one i know that it was repetitive. But other than that, i loved this game. The second game is going to be awesome. Flying, swimming, hiring bad guys, chasing, etc.
Its creative enough as it gets.

My main qualm with AC 1 was how brainless the AI was. There would be 6 of them standing around me, but they would all attack one at a time. Furthermore, the blend feature was too strong; there were instances where I would kill someone right in front of a guard and then go into blend, and they wouldn't go after me. Also, the combat became too easy, since you were practically invincible once you learned counter kills.

I mostly agree with you. But that didn't matter to me much. I only used the blend feature to enter towns. I have to admit that i used it only a few times in the game during fighting. The combat system was great, the only bad thing in it was that it always got easier and each guard attacks one at a time, like you said. But Ubisoft is sure to have improved these flaws in AC2.

I liked the climbing. I hated the story, the combat, the dialogue, and the mission structure.

Yeah the AI was bad in the first one, soldiers would literally line up to be killed.

I also thought it was funny how whenver you hauled ass on your horse it would somehow give you away as an assassin.

Re: Epic Assassin's Creed 2 trailer is epic

So, judging from the EDGE magazine I bought today, the game now tells its story through proper, non-interactive cutscenes. It follows Ezio from birth until middle-age (a bit like Fallout 3) as well as Desmond and Lucy's escape from the Aspergo facility. There's even an 'Animus 2.0' to explain all the gameplay upgrades. Nifty.

Oh no! Not again!
So, people are getting excited for a sequel to a game that was vastly over-hyped, big shocker. It's quite hypocritical to assume that the game will dissapoint when it isn't even out yet.

That sounds cool, can't wait to see that.

Another thing I noticed in the gameplay was new environmental objects you can use.

If you watch 0:53- 0:58 you can see he uses the flower pot. I thought that was a really cool idea.
