Buy a PSP Go, Get Voucher to Download 3 of Your UMD Games

At least in Europe.

Well, I guess that makes the PSP Go a little bit better. Not sure if I would be okay cutting my collection down to only three games though.

Are UMDs really that bad?

I was aaaall about the Go up until I saw some really amazing deals on PSP3000 and a couple of games on UMD.

My reasoning behind opting for the Go as opposed to the 3000 was that I'd heard that they are really noisy when loading and are generally just a horrible format.

I'll probably still download most of the games even if I were to get a 3000, but I don't really trust Sony to have the store updated properly so it might still be nice to have the option to go for a UMD if I need to.

The loading is pretty bad unless you use custom firmware, fortunately that is incredibly easy to do.

Except on the -3000, or so I hear.

I'm probably still going to get a -3000 and some memory sticks, beacuse I'm not actually going to get many PSP games as far as I can tell. And the ones I do get, I'll probably download.

Loading is more than acceptable on the 2000 onward, but there's still the fact that loading is much worse comparatively, the disc adds weight to the system, the spinning vibration and noise is EXTREMELY annoying, and the battery drains faster while using the drive.

Considering I have six games and a movie, I don't feel like trading that for a slide out control pad. 16 gigs or not, I demand a way to get free downloads on games I already own.

There really isn't an excuse not to do that, as far as I can see.
I'm sure they could have you enter the product PIN or something like that.

Wouldn't there be a way to scam that? Like, you own 10 games, you get the pins to put them on your Go, then trade in your UMD's?

Yeah, I suppose there's that.
But there must be some way to do it.

Well either way it's going to be bad for someone. Either you can download the games you own for free, meaning you can trade in your UMD's to get some extra cash (which could lead to a burst in used sales for 3000 owners.) On the contrary, if you have to pay to get your games on the Go, then you're paying for something you already own. At that point, it's like "either keep your 3000, or buy a Go and buy your games again".

Because rehashing handhelds makes disproportionate amounts of money.

I've lost count of how many versions of the PSP there have been (is it 5 now?), and I'd have trouble telling them apart bar the Go. They should have come out with the PSP2 by now.

4, most consoles get revised tons though. There are about a dozen different PS2s.

Well there are only two, I'm not counting recolours here.

I think the 3000 has a better screen because it has more color, youtube shows the difference quite well. There are some inerlacing problems but you really don't notice them very often. I own 15 umd's so I think it would be stupid for me to uprgade to the go. Also, I like to have my options of where I get my games.
