Nintendo sells games

Cube-europe.com have reported that Nintendo of America is the second highest selling games publisher in America. Nntendo had sales of $31,420,940 giving them a market share of 10%. Nintendo followed EA at the top with EA garnering an impressive $76,932,800 in sales with a market share of 24.5%.

Where's Microsoft and Sony? Sony is in the no. 5 position with nearly $17 million dollars in sales and 5.4% market share. Microsoft is the no. 15 position with 7 and a half million dollars in sales and 2.4% market share.

Nintendo's sales were up an impressive 21% in Q4 2003 and they went up another 7% in Q1 2004.

In other news, it has been revealed that Nintendo has sold on average 12.8 games per Gamecube compared to Microsoft's 12.0 per suxbox, err, I mean Xbox.

Nintendo said they are 'closing in on Sony'.

Well what do you make of all this? For me, it means that Nintendo is going to be around for a very long time.

Re: Nintendo sells games

Is the selling of GBA games included in these statistics? 'Cause then I'm not surprised at all...

That slightly impresses me, but the way you worded the first statement, the GBA was probably factioned into the sales.

Re: Nintendo sells games

I believe that the site he used, is most likely just putting up the information from Nintendo's E3 press conference. In it they detailed many of the things he said. I'm not sure if GBA is included in that or not though, because in the conference, the guy said that since its release in 01' the GBA has sold more units than PS2. Granted for a while the $200 price difference might have influenced that, but it is still good to know that something can put Sony in their place.

As for the Xbox, well, that doesn't surprise me a'tall. I still think its next to useless, but that is my opinion.

Re: Nintendo sells games

The GameBoy system in general has been the #1 selling system ever... Not only is GBA beating PS2, the numbers of all GameBoys sold dwarfs that of PS1 and PS2 combined.

"Nintendo of America is the second highest selling games publisher in America"

Not GC games, not GBA games, just games...so I'd think those numbers would include GBA...but then EA is probably getting GBA sales as well as Xbox and PS2 and GC and PC sales as well...it helps when you're selling games on all systems rather than just your own, it would explain Sony being "only" 5th because even though they have the most popular console they only make games for their own system.

Re: Nintendo sells games

I was under the impression that the figures included Nintendo's GBA games. Don't forget that Microsoft also make games for GBA through their lucrative publishing deal with THQ.

Unfortunately for Nintendo, these are software sales and not hardware sales. XBox outsells Gamecube in most regions and hence people are impressed by the sales and think that XBox is the way to go. This doesn't happen in Japan obviously, as PSone outsells the XBox there.

Gamecube sales have risen 60% in the week ending May 15th in the European market. This has been accredited to the release of Pokemon Colloseum as well as a bundle pack where you get a Cube, Colloseum, Pokemon Box and a Gamecube-GBA link cable. Who said Pokemon was a dead series?

I know for one, I did. I haven't seen or heard a gameboy playing a pokemon game in years.

Ah, but that is where you are wrong. I saw a little boy playing Pokemon... eh... Ruby? Something with a red cart. It could see his screen, and it was Pokemon. This was while I was working the other day in a mall.
