School dressing codes.

Yea, Why do kid's have to wear school uniforms?

I go to a private school in Panama and They make me wear

Damn suit, tube socks, short hair. We also cannot wear Bracelets, earrings (girls can't wear earrings ) and alot of other stupid dressing codes.

My question is why? Do these unnecessary rules make us better student's?

Will you're grades decrease if you don't wear tube socks?

Will you're conduct improve if you don't wear earrings?

Now do you think that school uniforms make us better children?

I don't really think it helps the school environment. It's more of a tradition in most places I've seen. I've never had to wear a school uniform, although I did live in England for a while. But I can tell you that I wouldn't be happy about it, but I wouldn't hold it against the school either.

Sometimes they look nice though, I'm not gonna lie.

I'm too lazy to pull up all of the facts in favor of school uniforms ( I've done like three reports in favor of them)

Just to say, they are there for a reason. And work.

EDIT : To OP, uniforms are not implemented ONLY for grades.

In England you have to wear uniforms, it's not too strict, we can wear braclets and earrings etc.
Just crazy haircolours and incorrect uniform is the strict part.

Honestly, I think school would be more enjoyable for me if I could wear my own clothes, it's more comfortable and casual

I've gone to a school with uniforms and I've gone to a school with casual clothes. The difference? You don't have to worry about what you're going to wear in the schools that require uniforms.

I don't support school uniforms. They're usually put in place to deter gangs, and bad behaviour and all that crap. But I've known kids who went to private schools. It doesnt. Some of them or more screwed up than anyone else. However, I do think that dress codes serve a purpose. Basically to keep any vulgarity, obcenity or gang related images out of school. However the last one is easy to do even with uniforms.

How ever I do think it's important for people, especially kids, to express their individuality. And I don't mean everyone should become goths and talk about how non conformist they are. But even wearing band shirts, or sports jerseys. It lests other people know who you are, not just another guy in a uniform. There's pleanty of time for that in the work place.

Only uniform I've ever worn to school is my JROTC uniform. But I have a decent rank and shiny awards and a medal so it's pretty cool.

Speakin as someone who wore the same pair of jeans everyday for his entire junior year...

Sometimes uniforms help, because kids don't get bullied for wearing "different" clothes. Since they're all wearing the same things, they can't really get bullied.

It also cuts down on the "oh gosh, what am I going to wear?!" stuff in the mornings.

I've never worn a school uniform in my life, and I don't plan on wearing one in the near future. I'd rather crossdress.

I go to a magnet/academy school, so each academy has a different colored polo. Like my academy, the performing and visual arts, wears purple. Then someone in medical would wear teal, cosmeotology/culinary/childcare would be green, entertainment and graphic design would be red, and so on.

It's not that big of a deal, but what pisses me off is that we are allowed to wear skirts but NO shorts. Anyone see something wrong with this picture?

I've gone to private school all my life so I'm used to wearing uniforms. I didn't really have a problem with them to begin with.

I've generally observed 3 reasons: They either
1: want to get kids to dress modestly
2: want to avoid any economic differences (ie the rich kids with good cloths picking on the poor kids with bad cloths)
3: simple tradition

I remember when I first put it on, I thought it was so cool. Then after the second week I got so tired of it, maintaining it and all. It was mandatory to wear it all day, but then I just put it on before RO and took it off after. It did look nice after I got promoted to higher ranks and got all my spiffy cords, medals and ribbons, though.

I had to wear uniforms during middle school. I didn't like it not so much because it was mandatory, but because blue polos and beige slacks are not the business. If it was a uniform that looked nice, like a white dress shirt, black pants and a tie, I wouldn't have so much of a problem wearing it, but I'd still prefer to wear my own clothes. Especially on those days when I get too lazy to even fix myself up and head out in an undershirt, sweat pants and flip flops.

The dress code I believe, is quite fair, don't promote or advertise beer, smoking, and drug use, and don't dress like a whore.

I don't believe any of it's too dramatic, like "Hey you can't wear blue, because we hate that color"
