Magic

I love magic (though I can't perform any tricks myself). It's such a fun form of entertainment, don't you think? I mean, what's more fun than seeing "impossible" feats happen before your eyes?

But what prompted me to make this thread is that I was watching some Penn and Teller videos for the last few hours (always great stuff), and I have to say, every time someone says "magic isn't real", I die a little on the inside.

Come the hell on, people, way to ENTIRELY miss the point of magic.
It really depresses me how so many people miss the point of it.
Penn and Teller know what it's about, though.

Magic's not about pretending you have supernatural powers.
Magic's about leaving the audience with that "how did they DO that?" sense of amazement. The real magic behind magic is the fact that the performers can make the impossible seem to happen on-stage by fooling the audience with amazing prowess.
It's not magic if it makes you think "that's not real".
It's magic if it makes you think "wow, how did they pull that off so well?".
Now THAT'S magic.

I especially like winning money by making bets that I can do things people think impossible.

I can teleport to anywhere in the world thanks to magic!

magic is fun to watch!

I think it's alright, I don't love it but it is pretty cool!

Sadly, I can't really deal with that. Instead of giving me some quality entertainment, magic tricks usually leave me quite restless. Instead of enjoying the good show, I keep worrying about how did they do it. It's too frustrating to not know where the hell did that dove come from .

I love magic. It's an interesting thing to do. In my childhood I had a magic box, and I'd be able to learn how to use magic with it, but hmm... I wasn't hardworking enough, and left it off. I could do a quite good trick with five special dices though ^^

Hmm. Magic CAN be understood as something else than fakery, you know. But if we're talking about the "magic" by those "magicians" ( which I like to call illusionists ) that do tricks on stages, yes, that's awesome.

Magic is awesome! I love to watch magic shows, once I was chosen to be an assistant.
But I didn't learn anything from the experience. I wanna learn some tricks.

It's pretty cool. Don't see it often though.

Ah, I love magic. Being able to fly, teleportation, blasting people you don't like with huge fireballs...

But Magic in the illusionary sense is cool, too. I'm always rather envious of anyone who can successfully play a card trick before my eyes, and leave me feeling dumbfounded by how she did it @_@.
