Re: Do you believe toast can ever beat pancakes?
Pancakes always come with regret and never seem to hit the right spot. They can be great and all of that, but toast is just more versatile. It can be great by itself, but it goes extremely well with all other kinds of food. It's also easier to prepare, making it more instantly gratifying.
AND CAN PANCAKES DO THIS: ![]() I DON'T THINK SO!

Pancakes are more win then toast will ever be, but toast is just easier to make.
I remember I used to beg my mom to make pancakes for me hehe. |

I remember there was one member a while back who loved toast. Can't remember his name, though.

Re: Do you believe toast can ever beat pancakes?
Yep, SD would love this thread : D
At first, I was prepared to give pancakes my vote, but I then realized that "toast" is not limited to just plain warm bread. There is, of course, French Toast, which beats pancakes any day of the week. Then you have toast with butter, toast with peanut butter, toast with jelly, cinnamon toast, or perhaps even toast with nutella. And what would a BLT be without toast? And as has been mentioned, toast is much easier to prepare. Pancakes are nice, but toast is <3, especially for someone who loves the smell of bread :/

Re: Do you believe toast can ever beat pancakes?
Wait, people are actually mentioning toast and pancakes in the same sentences? What is wrong with people?
Seriously, toast is a vessel for other small foods, whereas pancakes contain endless potential unlocked via very simple means such as jam, syrup, whatever. There are limitless possibilities locked within the very pancake, the toast is naught but a surface to smeer with other goodness. From my experience, though, waffles are just thicker pancakes with some cool patterns. There is no question that something that's just pancakes with more pancake to it has to be superior to pancakes. Please note that everything in my post is objective fact. |

And french toast counts as toast, ergo Toast wins. |

And you do not collect french toast from a toaster, as you could toast, therefore it is in a higher league than regular toast.

Re: Do you believe toast can ever beat pancakes?
First of all, french toast has got to be the nastiest thing I have ever eaten =P
Second, I only make waffles when there is absolutely nothing left to eat. Homemade are better, but still unsatisfying. Pancakes can be good, especially if they are banana pancakes, but would have to be second to... Toast. Toast ain't the best (I'd rather have a lot of other things first like eggs, oatmeal or fruit), but it suffices when I am in a rush. And toast is very very good on the side. That's all folks! Btw, all of the above beats any kind of cereal. Bleck! My idea of good is not SOGGY =P

I am so happy that I didn't have to come here and drop knowledge on how French Toast trumps every other flour-based breakfast food. Good work, Team French Toast!

You've never...*is temporarily speechless*
...do it. Now. Eat a pancake. Cover it with lots of maple syrup (or, if that's too sickly, fresh lemon juice with just a dash of sugar). You won't regret it! |
