Spiders!
I am very deeply affected by spiders, be it physically and emotionally.
I have not used my bath in over a month after I caught two large spiders in the bath, and a few smaller ones. We got rid of them, sure, but there were mor ethe next day! Nearly every day of my life, I see spiders dominating my bathroom, both tiny, small, and large. Even the occasional overweight spider, or pregnent. I simply cannot source where they are all coming from to have this manifestation of spiders in the bathroom. However... I guess... Two large spiders = sexual intercourse. = baby spiders. It is disgusting. Spiders are having children in the hidden areas of my bath, and some in the bath. Absoultely disgusting. I was washing my face in the dark, say, a week ago, and after I finished washing my face, what did I see? There was a dead spider in the sink that I was using! I was washing my face and I never even noticed that there was a spider in the water! It is the experience involving spiders in the bath, sink, toilet, and even the under the bathroom carpet (nests, huh? Oh boy) that have made me terrified of even walking two steps into that room. Now I onlys go in there cuastiously, checking the flood and my surroundings for any spiders near me, and I always finish my business quickly. Then, I leave that room faster than a a plain can travel. Now I have been reduced to washing my face in the kitchen sinkand having to literally wash myself standing up, and then pouring water over me, so it isn't easy. I was going to wash the kitchen flood today, and guess what I found on the mop and bucket? A spider web! Guess what I found outside the kitchen window and near the sink? SPIDERS! It has gotten as bad as to reach my bedroom, too. I was lying in bed on ZU, when I notice this freaking spider on my bed and right near me! It got onto one of my pieces of clothes, too. I went into panic mode and started rushing the clithes (with the spider) far away from my bedroom. I had it exterminated, of course. Oh, and guess what? Big, fat spiders near the front house door, too. I have never seen a home get so many spiders in such a short amount of time in my entire life. The whole bad thing is, not only do spiders affect my daily activities, but seeing them in my bedroom can stop me sleeping for days until I have their existence elminated, having them on my clothes makes me cautious of wearing those clothes, having them in baths and sinks makes me cautious of using them, and seeing them in the kitchen will stop me eating. Having a spider on me can break me down mentally. I was once chased with someone who was holding a spider, and I broke down emotionally, lashed out, screamed, and I almost collapsed. I was crying when I was chased with a spider, too. I have asked doctors about what they think about how strongly I react to anything spider; they said that my condition is an extremely powerful and even deadly phobia of spiders, but there is nothing that can be done. Nothing safe, that is. Unless I want to get someone to mess with my head or brain chemistry, but that is dangerous. Messing with my head just to rid me of a powerful phobia? Not worth it. Spiders have this emotional and dangerous control over my mind. Once individual who shall remain nameless once told me, "Spiders are going to be the death of you. Literally. One day, if you keep seeing them close to you or your daily activities, you're going to have an emotional breakdown again." I have been afraid of terrified of them my entire life, and no one has met anyone who is as terrified of them as I am. :/ |

Re: Spiders!
It's a good job you don't live in Australia, that's all I can say. :/

Re: Spiders!
You can get help for that you know, if you feel it's really affecting your life in a negative way.
Just talk with a doctor about it. I have no problems what so ever with spiders. ![]()

Re: Spiders!
Yes, I agree. If you lived here then you would be horrified. Although, I havent seen any lately. Well, hardly any in QLD but alot in NSW.
Anyway, I am scared of spiders but I do not have a phobia of them. I am sorry to hear your story and I would go like live on the street or something if my house was infested with spiders. =/

Re: Spiders!
Spiders rock!!
As you can tell from the above, i have no problems with them. There is one thing to know about them, they are more afraid of you than you will be of them.

Re: Spiders!
Spiders rock indeed!
They eat all the more pesky bugs, and generally leave you alone. Just use your bathroom more and they'll be discouraged from setting up camp there (they prefer to build their webs in places where they won't be disturbed). Just ignore them - they're relatively clean (unlike flies) and won't give you a disease or anything. In fact, they're kinda cute: when I find one, I let it crawl onto my hand and then take it outside. I love spiders. |

Re: Spiders!
I was just waiting for someone to post that photo...
This spider here is an absolute beauty, even though it's not in Australia: ![]() (We should really be able to put images in spoilers) Edit: ha, it is in Australia it's a Golden Orb Weaver |

Re: Spiders!
^^
Thats probably true. I believe the only spiders i would be scared of would be the Camel Spiders which are found in hot countries like Iraq, Afganistan and Iran ![]() Thats two of them fighting i believe. These things apparantly scream high pitched and chase after you if you even disturb them, and if they bite you it has been known at worst to kill. They love the shade as well.

Re: Spiders!
Pfft, you think spiders are bad? I once almost stepped on a Diamondback. It may not look as creepy as a Camel Spider, but if you've seen what happens to a person once they get bitten you'll piss yourself at the sight of one.
Oh and Sweet dreams. ![]() |

Re: Spiders!
Dude, spiders are the ****. I share a deep, interpersonal connection with spiders. Whenever I find one in my bathroom or something, I'm like "You keep doing your thing, man," and it's like "Likewise, sir," and we part.
But seriously, I'm not afraid of spiders, mainly because I'm not a pussy, but also because they're useful. I have, like, three black widows in my room, and ever since they moved in, my pest population has plummeted. The same goes for my living room. Outside, we have all sorts of spiders; black widows, banana spiders (also known as golden silk orb-weavers), wolf spiders, etc. Now, cockroaches are a different story. The mere presence of one is enough to send shivers up my spine. I absolutely hate these things, and my spider friends do nothing to stop them.

Re: Spiders!
That's exactly what I was going to post. Well played, miss.
****ing hell. I'm not really huge on spiders either, but my Alpha Male hunting instinct is sufficiently developed that I can instantly weaponise the nearest object to dispose of the threat before my fiancee notices it and starts panicking.

Re: Spiders!
I hate everyone who has posted a picture. >_<
*shutters* Spiders make me seize up. I don't know why I'm so scared of them, but I just am. Especially if I were in Australia. Holy ship, I would not be able to contain myself if I were to see a spider that size, anywhere near me. D: Small spiders are okay. <3

Re: Spiders!
Spiders scare me so much. Big or small ones, I'm scared. I can't even touch one, or go near one, without freaking out. Ew. :/
