When my brother and I were kids, we lived out in southern California in a desert valley. My brother was about to put one of his shoes on until a tarantula jumped out of it! I've never seen him run so fast in my life except for that day.

He's not afraid of spiders anymore, though. We both kind of adopted the same philosophy with spiders as with other bugs: "I see it, I kill it."

I have a pet tarantula. I love him/her. My whole family(excluding my father) is deathly afraid of him/her. It's too bad.

I think spiders are some of the most amazing and beautiful creatures on earth.

To me, it is a ridiculous fear. Most spiders are harmless. I can understand, however, if it be a poisonous spider. I'm afraid of those =P Duh.

You're afraid of poisonus spiders, yet you own the most well known deadly spider?

I'm deathly afraid of spiders. Anything bigger than an inch scares me.

I'm also afraid of bugs. I used to like them, but not anymore.

Excuse me, I meant venomous, not poisonous.

And yes, my tarantula is venomous, however, not enough so to kill me.

I am more afraid of spiders like black widows. That is a rational fear. My grandpa almost died from being bitten by one.

And the little spider can't hurt you either, I suggest. It's too small. A bigger and more dangerous one could, but this little fella... But I don't know too much about spiders' danger.

I had something to say, it involved usage of the pictures. No spider poses a threat to you if you leave them alone or know how to handle them. If you provoke them with a stick for example, they may attack.

Ok, some creatures attack you for no reason. These include Wasps who pose anything a threat at all times no matter if its alive, dead or in-aminent.

Oh, and that parasite tounge looks freaky. I'm surprised that the fish can still remain alive with that living inside its mouth.

We probably have one of them living inside us right now, nothing much we can do about it really.

I don't know, perhaps this thread should change to phobia's or something. Its got many other creatures in that people are scared of (Nesi and her Centipedes for example)

When someone say's that they're afraid of something, it's like an invitation to me.

I hate spiders.

I remember a really huge spider crawling on my bed when I was younger.

I woke up and saw something move in front of me, I screamed so loud that it woke my parents.

Arn't venomous and poisonous the same thing?

And yeah, Black Widows are the other big scary spider, and i think even if you're not afraid of spiders that you would probably be afraid of the Black Widow and the Tarantula.

Well, they are basically the same thing, but many people use them incorrectly when talking about animals and plants. Venomous animals are animals that inject their prey with a poisonous substance. Poisonous plants and animals are toxic when consumed or when one comes in contact with them.

A jellyfish is poisonous, while a snake or spider is venomous. There IS a difference.

And yeah, Black Widows are the other big scary spider, and i think even if you're not afraid of spiders that you would probably be afraid of the Black Widow and the Tarantula.

Probably most are. But I am not. I carry and hold mine on my bare skin quite often. I have pictures if you don't believe me =P lol

Venom = Being bitten by an poisonous animal.
Poison = Eating a poisonous plant.
Toxic = Poisonous gas.

I think that was right. :3

And I'm hysterical when I see a spider that's bigger than 1 cm. :S
