Some, paticually "good" people, think of the the darkness as something evil, sick, and foul. Ones of a deeper thought might even assosiate the darkness with bliss, seeing it as the escape route for those who have seen the dark roots behind life and mankind. The truth is, there is no true answer as to whether the darkness is good or bad, but that is all down to personal opinion.

I am neutral about it.

On a more serious note, I suppose you are talking about the emotional state in life where everything as you know it falls apart, like when someone close to you dies. No rational explanation makes sense to our primitive emotional sides when something like this happens.
