I myself use the darkness when describing very grim events and sitatations, such as the voices that call across midnight's gaze upon me, and those faint screams that I hear echoing through space.

One might use the darkness to describe the end of a life, or even use it to descibe a birth of a child into a cruel, cruel world. I always, as I said, assosited the darkness with the voices that call across midnight's gaze upon me, and I see them as calling from some place far off, lonely, and dark.

Sometimes I hear the echo of a screaming soul, someone who is in pain out there in the world, crying, and I hear them scream, wishing I could save them. Unfortunately, I am only human - or so I think - so I can only listen to them, hear them fade so painfully gradual.

Some, paticually "good" people, think of the the darkness as something evil, sick, and foul. Ones of a deeper thought might even assosiate the darkness with bliss, seeing it as the escape route for those who have seen the dark roots behind life and mankind. The truth is, there is no true answer as to whether the darkness is good or bad, but that is all down to personal opinion.

I am neutral about it.

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

Cruel cruel world? You are boring.

Life ain't cruel, whiners just think it is, because they made their own life cruel by doing nothing with it like total losers! happy face in my sig is laughing at them now, sad face is a loser. (sad face also being laughed at)

The darkness, is the absence of light, life, or anything, it really is nothing. I don't think 'the darkness' has any part in my life and is boring. I avoid boring things. It's why I think so much. A waste of time is not thinking and contemplating. Well, for me, anyway.

That's kinda weird. You're hearing these voices? I wish I did. That would be an interesting part in my life. I could write a book about it. *laughs*

I'm not making fun of you, so don't think that.

I love that game.

Anyway, light and darkness usually refer to knowledge and ignorance in literature and other works. Keep this in mind when reading James Joyce's short story, Araby. It takes the meaning of light and darkness to a whole new level.

I consider darkness to be many things
- anything bad, immoral, evil
- absence of light
- gothic stuff
- I CANT SEE oh wait that's absence of light

I love darkness, too. When it is dark, I can hear the voices call. Of course, the downside is that all I can do is listen, but at least they can know that they're not alone out there, that I hear them call.

I also like light, though, depending on how I feel. If I am depressed, being in a room with light and darkness outside makes me feel better inside, but just pure daylight? Depressing. My mind works differently in that I find too much day light as depressing, but midnight can make me feel slightly better inside.

Perhaps you should ask South Carolina Gov. Mark Stanford, about the darkness:

Oh, No! The Darkness Strikes Again!
