I don't like kids. They are annoying. Well some of them.

I was trying to point out that everyone is different. Boys aren't ALWAYS one way, and neither are girls.
Also, I didn't mean to make it sound like all parents pay for their kid's college(mine don't pay for my college), but some do.
I just don't like how some people always make generalizations. Not ALL girls are prissy and pricey. Not ALL boys are easy and cheap(or at least cheaper) to have.
Yeah, but in general, the typical girl is very, very pricey. She wants to have a nice high-priced cell phone, an iPod, a Chanel purse, fancy clothes from Versace or Coach, a Mercedes, 15 pairs of shoes, and a nice big fancy bed.

Of course it's a generalization, but it is true for a very significant portion of the females in modern western society.

You could choose to not spoil her. Then she might not ask anymore.

Re: Would you want a boy or girl?

Kids are a waste of time and money. Both of which I have to spend on my little brother, so it's pretty much like having a kid.

The only reason I'd ever even think of having a kid would to have it be a fresh source of organs for me. So it'd have to be a boy.

Re: Would you want a boy or girl?

I don't want kids. Little kids annoy the hell out of me if I have to deal with them for prolonged periods of time. Some kids are good but others I can't stand. Also I don't like the idea of that much money spent on something (call me heartless, I don't care) when I could spend that money on kids already in the world that have a ****ty life. I think there's too many people in the world and don't want to add to it. I also have a chronic illness that I wouldn't want my kid to grow up having. I've seen what it does to the people around me and I couldn't watch my child go through that. The biggest thing though, I lack the patience. If I can't tell something what I want it to do and have it do it, I get annoyed fast. I don't want to have to deal with a small child that would be the same way, but unlike my computer I can't throw out the window and get a new one.

Ooh, I can't possibly choose. What ever I'm given with I'll be happy. I look forward to having kids, whichever comes first I'll be really pleased.

If I say "I want a boy first" but end up having a girl (or the other way round) I wouldn't want to be disappointed. Like. Shouting at the baby to get back in there and telling him/her to "come out the way I want you to!"

Where are you getting your information? Do you watch too much TV? You know, the typical girl is not like the ones you see on The Hills.
I obviously don't know you, or where you live or anything, but maybe you just happen to be surrounded by girls like this. Maybe you have a distorted view on how girls are. Maybe you live in a rich neighborhood full of spoiled girls or something. I don't know.
I honestly don't have ONE friend, out of ALL of my friends (who are girls) who has nor cares about any of these things(minus maybe the cell phone and iPod). I don't know anyone who has Versace anything. Or even cares enough to say they WANT Versace anything.
I'm sure that ANY girl wouldn't mind having nice things if they could afford it. But then again, so would BOYS.
And when it comes to cell phones and iPods, that's a terrible example, because both boys and girls care about these things equally. You should know that.
Plus, I have many guy friends and knew many guys in high school who only wear name brands like Holister, and what ever other crap they wear.
I mean, boys care about having the nice things too: motor cycles, cars, brand name clothing, guitars(many of my guy friends spend a lot on instruments and accessories), video games, game systems, computers, etc. and on down the line. There are also boys who want Versace this and that and shoes galore.
I'm not saying that there aren't girls like this. I mean yeah, there are a lot of them I'm sure. I know some who do care about these things, but I wouldn't say that the MAJORITY of girls are like this, unless you come back to me with some believable statistics. I just think it is ridiculous that you really see women that way.
Also, like what Dread said, you don't HAVE to spoil her, and give her everything she wants if she happens to be like this. Maybe the problem is in the parenting.
Sorry Andy, I don't mean to sound so hateful if I do lol. I don't hate you, I just don't agree with you =P
And come on, even YOU have to admit a big fancy bed would be nice. Anyone wouldn't mind having that.

Jeez, that way an essay.

Jeez, that way an essay.
Your half-an-essay-introduction can be broken down into a topic sentence:
There is a common misconception that girls desire more material possessions than guys, this is untrue.

However, you're saying that my point is a generalization, and that there can be rules to any exception. This debunks your entire argument, too.

Re: Would you want a boy or girl?

A chance to argue with people I don't know? well lets get going!!!

*aims at andy*

FIRST OFF: you are generalizing sans evidence, you have no numbers of any kind.
SECONDLY: I have some personal experience in this matter I do not care what 'person' I am wearing as long as I am comfortable, my brother however buys only name brands and says I dress like a hobo, my sister is much like me only cares about comfortability. In conclusion it is up to the personality of the person that determines what they will or will not care about.

Come up with a real argument and then we can talk andy.

Re: Would you want a boy or girl?

Right. You're small frame of reference that includes one single girl's preferences is definitely not a fallacious and accidental application of that specific scenario to a whole class of people.

I have no numbers, only firsthand experience. That makes my arguments incorrect.

Oh wait, that's all you guys have to say, too! But it doesn't matter, if you just pretend that you're right and act as if I'm being silly or irrational, it will appear as if your false premises are correct.

Whooah whooah whooah now. Let's calm down everyone. This is nothing to get so worked up about. We are all correct in our own ways =D Settled.
Yup, there are a lot of kids(boys and girls) who want everything. Let's just hope ours won't be like that.

Now that I think about it, it doesn't matter too much which gender I wanted. It's not like I'd shun it from my home if it turned out to be the opposite of my preference.

good point, I am willing to yelled that I have no statistics as well but as I flipped through the pages I noted that you in fact were the instigator of this disagreement therefore the burden of proof is on you and not me or ValaVarda.

Re: Would you want a boy or girl?

I was never trying to prove a goddamn thing. I'm just saying that personal experience and my knowledge of the various infrastructures and 'trends' that govern the mass market in contemporary western society, as well as the general traits of the female mind (as far as my rather-limited worldview and frame of reference show me) tends to favor females costing more from a material standpoint.

I'm not denying that there are exceptions to any rule. Of course there are. Just because you've experienced the exceptions firsthand doesn't mean that it's automatically never true, or that someone who says otherwise is generalizing. That is the fallacy of accident, applying a single scenario to a whole case or group of people.

Re: Would you want a boy or girl?

many of you people creep me out in this thread, I ve said it before, but I'll say it again:
you make it sound as if boys and girls are two completely different animals.
do you think that differences in preferances and behaviour between boys and girls is something gender-specific that we are born with, or is it something we create by treating boys and girls different while growing up?
