While I was Gone (Airport hell)

Well, since I last posted here at ZU, many interesting things have been happening to me. Now I feel I should share them with you guys!

First after I quit posting, things started to get really intense at school. Projects left and right, tests tests and more tests, and then came Christmas. My parents got me a full tang Japanese Katana with a sculpted dragon handle and a red velvet sheath. It was definitely a gift that was wo9rth giving up all my other presents for, since it was so expensive. I've got it hanging up on my bedroom wall now.

January and February were uneventful, with the workload not waxing or waning. In March, my National Honor Society volunteer hours were due, and I had to really burn myself to get them in on time. I had missed several meetings and had to make up extra hours. It was really close, but I made it!

Then, the week of March 29- April 2 was spring break. For the break, I got to fly out to Washington D.C. I was going to stay with my Unlce (Not the smoking one ) in his condo. Since I was the only one invited, I got to fly alone on the plane. We went to see the two Air and Space Museums, and Espionage Museum, and the Cherry Blossom Festival. (Photo attached to post)

While I was over there, my Uncle got a E-mail that appeared to be from my Mom's address, and opened the attachment. Big mistake. The address was a spoof, and there was a really nasty virus attached. We spent a good three nights trying to remove it, but it was a wily little thing. It blocked out his ZoneAlarm porgram, it eluded McAfee and when he tried to uncheck it from the start menu in Safe mode, it just rechecked itself. He had to download a free trial of Norton to sucessfuly start the removal process. It was still working on the removal when I left.

And then, came the time when I was immersed in Airport Hell. (RANT ALERT!)Basically, my plane back to colorado left at 6:00 PM sharp, and we left at 4:45. We ran into horrific traffic caused by the ongoing traffic caused by the Cherry Blossom festival. Byt the time we got into the airport and up to the ticket desk, it was 5:31. The clerk refused to give me a boarding pass because of a new rule they had that everyone had to arrive half an hour early. That ******* at the desk would not let me on because I was 60 seconds late. My Uncle and I were about to strangle her. She signed me up for standby on the next day's flight, saying that I had a 5% chance of getting a seat, and that it was my fault for missing that flight and I should just suck it up and deal with it. My Unlce had to keep me from socking her in the jaw.

Later that night my Unlce called to complain, the the people there explained that the Earlier I got in, the better chance I would have to get the seat. My Unlce and I decide to leave 2 hours early tomorrow.

The next day, we leave on schedule and avoid the Ceherry Blossoms. When we get to the Airport, the people now won't let my Uncle to accompany me down to the gate. So now, if I don't get the seat, I'll be stranded. Since there aren't any more flights open back to Colorado for the next few days, we decide to take the chance. I go down to wait and my Uncle gives me his phone number to call him if I don't get the seat.

Luckily, I get the last seat on the plane, so I go over to the phones to tell my Uncle that I got the seat, but all the phones are out of order. I get on the plane, not thinking it's too big of a problem. While I fly in peace, my parents call my Uncle to ask if I had gotten the seat, but he doesn't know. Then, to make matters worse, the plane is delayed by an hour.

So now my dad is waiting for an hour, not knowing if I even got on the plane at all, debating wether to leave or not. I do get in before he decides to leave, but then the people at the Colorado airport decided not to let my dad come down to the gate to pick me up. What ensues is a wild goose chase while Airport personnel lead my dad and I around separately, trying to find each other. they take us to different places at different times, almost like they don't want my dad to find me. then, my escort's shift ends and he abandons me at baggage claim. Eventually my dad's help0er leads him down to baggage claim for the fourth time and we meet up.

So what can you take away from this? NEVER FLY FRONTIER AIRLINES!

Nothing else noteworthy has really happened to me, so we're caught up. I look forward to posting some more here at ZU!

Sounds like an intresting vacation to say the least...and yeah, the airport is absolute hell.

Hey, glad to see you back AJ. I've never ever been on an aeroplane before and I'm not sure that I want to after listening to your ordeal. Have you found out if you're Uncle's got the virus deleted yet?

Wow! That is a lot of stuff! Must have been...er....fun? Atleast you made it! You really needed that Spring Break after all those projects and tests!

Wow... I've never had problems of that caliber at any airport..
The katana must've been awesome though... I wish I had one...
Heh... I get that kind of mail atleats five times every day.. T_T...

Wow, that's....hm.... wow. I can't find the right words to express the stupidity of airport personnel. But you got a katana! That would be so cool! I wish I could get one. You're lucky.

I don't suppose you've got a camera or anything to lets us see the katana, do you...

Yeah, the airport can be a really messed up place. Luckily, most of my experiences there haven't been terrible, but the luggage people can be quite the asshats.

Yeah, I have two cameras, and I'll snap some pictures. But note they will take a bit, the software for them is only installed on my Dad's computer, and that computer is filled to the brim with bugs and viruses, I'll be lucky to even get the pictures written to a floppy disc.

Whoa, talk about bad luck, but at least you managed to get through Oh and for some strange resone some random person is trying to infect my comp...I've gotten over 12 e-mails all with the virus W32.Netsky.D@mm...All from random adresses. Luckily I have Yahoo which automatically scans documents anyways.....

Well, at you got through the Airport AJ. Oh and welcome back to the forums. It must suck for you to have to help your uncle try to remove a virus, and not succeec, and then have some airport persanell give you a hard time. Hopefully, your vacation went well other than those misadventures. Before you getr confused about who I am, look at my sig. And m00se, please stop spamming.
