Both.
A shower on the colder side (but still warm) helps me wake up, plus it make managing my hair a lot easier. And yes, you do sweat in your sleep, and I'd not want to go through the day with 8+ hours of it on my body. Personally, my skin is a bit oily, so showers twice a day are a necessity.
Then, I always take one before I go to bed. A very hot one. The heat helps with my body aches and it helps me relax. Plus, I scrub off all the oils and grime from the day. By the time I get out I'm all warm, relaxed, and ready for bed.
