I'm sorry for taking up people's time but...

I'm really worried bout someone very close to me...
You see, my boyfriend's been having really sharp stabbing stomach pains lately and i'm worried it could be something really serious...
I'm a little paranoid you see...i dunno much bout this so i dunno if it could be some sort of cancer...
My cousin passed away due to a brain tumor this year nd It was the worst thing i'd ever lived through...now i'm terrified i'm gonna lose the love of my life too...
So what i'm getting at is...do any of you guys have any idea as to what stabbing stomach pains mean? anything at all? if you do please please PLEASE tell me...

Does he put alot of strain on his abdominal muscles through exercise or something like that? That could be it.

He does do Martial arts nd he's in the Air Cadets but I don't think that's it coz he says he's had this ever since he was a little boy thnx 4 the suggestion though

First off, you're not wasting anybody's time. Secondly, if you're really that worried he should go see a doctor.

Get it checked out.

I've tried to get him to but you don't know him...he's really stubborn when he wants to be...he refuses to go see a doctor and he insists that the pain will go away...he just can't grasp the concept that its been ther for 15 years and that if it was gonna go it would have gone by now right?

You know, it could be appendicitis and that left unchecked is very dangerous! MAKE him go to the doctor if needs be! Hog tie him!

Tell him to go the the doctor.

He is probably scared too, he just doesn't want to show it. We, men, always have a hard time showing our weaknesses. Being sick, needing to go to the doctor are stuff we don't want to do. We are strong. We can fix it by ourselves.

Explain to him that you are really worried, you want him to go see a doctor. Tell him that if he does you'll be proud of him. Tell him that he shouldn't be afraid to go. Tell him that you'll think more of him when he goes than when he doesn't.

He could have a hernia, or an inflamed gallbladder, he might have ulcerative colitis, he might have an inflammation of the small intestine, or he might have cancer....
He might just be sore.... or over dramatic....
Whatever it is, he should really consult his physician, it could be serious. And the sooner he goes, the better.

Seems unlikely.

I dunno my cousin had a kidney stone when he was 13.

Common causes of stabbing pain in the stomach:

- Intake of too much acid
- Lactose intolerance
- Food allergies
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Gas
- Appendicitis
- Gastroesophageal reflux
- Stomach ulcers
- Pancreatitis
- Abdominal muscle strain

I'd recommend seeing a doctor though if you guys are really worried about it.

sometimes stress can cause pains in that area. or maby over working his body. but it shouldnt be cancer. if it was then it would hurt alot more. ppl in my family have had pains and the doctor said it is caused by stress. but the cancer pains would hurt really bad. on a scale of 1 to 10, the cancer one would be like a 15. really painful. hope thats a little help. and i hope it gets better. and your not wasting time with us.

I can pretty much assure you it's not cancer. He'd know about it if it was, especially since you say he's had them all his life. Are they constant, or do they come and go?

All he's told me is that they come and go. He mainly gets them when he gets over excited or something...oh and I forgot to mention, he's Astmatic aswell but i dnt kno if that has to do with anything.
