Age limits wat

Well, I went in to my local gamestop to trade in a few games today, only to find out there's a new law in Wyoming that states that you can't trade games in unless you're 18. I'm 17, so I got denied. Now see, this wasn't always the case, used to be that anybody could trade in games, now all of a sudden you have to be 18, but you can still buy Mature games at age 17. It's a stupid damn law, are there any other places that have this kind of thing going on?

yeah, i tried to return a game that i bought the day before and they required me to have a license. i had a receipt and everything, it was a 20 dollar used game. wtf is this ****

That's not the point, I'll just get one of my mates to do it. The point is, why have an age limit on returning games that's higher than the age limit of buying them?

It's cuz M rated games are for 17+ but I agree, tis AGE DISCRIMINATION. Lol I'm only 13 and I can play Resident Evil and such though.

Isn't it obvious? Once upon a time someone, aged 17 and 365 days (it was a leap year), traded in a game that their parents wanted to keep for some reason. Eventually his or her panicking mother sued the GameStop and won.

Otherwise...that's pointless for the most part. Wow.

Completely speculation, but maybe the company was having a problem with adults coming to them saying that their children sold back games at too low a price. It's not like you get a lot of cash back for trading in.

I never thought of that, really, but really, 18? I'd say 16 should be the limit for that. If you're old enough to drive, you should be old enough to decide if you're getting ripped off, and still want to sell or not.

"minor" < 18

"adult" >= 18

That's just the way it works in the law, right?

Well, yeah, but then with that logic, shouldn't the age to buy M games be 18? It's not, so I don't see why returning should be any different.

Meh. I've been playing T rated games since I was four and M rated games since I was like six or seven. I find that most games rated M aren't full of dicks and boobies, and bodies being torn apart in HD. I always buy the games with my dad, so it's no big deal.

Ya, they do that to keep kids underage to buy M rated stuff. That's the way it is folks.

Not sure, tbh. It's still asinine that you have to be older to trade games in than to buy mature games, though.
