Ran into my friend at the library.
As some of you know, I'm in the process of writing an autobiography.
I go everyday to the library during school break so I can continue writing or reading there. Yesterday, I was going to the library as usual, had my memiors in hand and a book or two about writing autobiographies, and that's when my friend popped out of nowhere. The thing is, I don't want any of my IRL friends knowing that I'm writing this book. "Hey!" he said. I was shocked to see him but I didn't show it. "Oh. Hi. What are you doing here?" "I'm studying for my art class, I have to draw some pictures." "How...you...how did you get here?" "I walked." "Oh." "I was over there then I saw you walk in. What are those books you have?" My heart started pounding. "Oh, that's...they're nothing, I don't know, just decided to read them. Nothing really." He looks at me suspiciously while smiling. We walked around, I showed him where the comic books are in case he needed something for his art homework. But he could sense I was keeping something very private from him. He sat down and showed me the artwork he made (they were jokes about swine flu), and then that's when I said, "I'm gonna walk around now and leave you to your work." Well, now he knows I have a secret from him. The worst part is that he lives a block away from me.

Re: Ran into my friend at the library.
To be honest he'll probably just forget about it. Besides, its not like hes going to be able to get ahold of what you've written or anything. I don't really see why its a big secret anyway, but don't let yourself get too paranoid about it. If he asks again, just say you were writing a fanfic or a fictional story or something, and you don't want anyone to see it/ you gave up on it.

Re: Ran into my friend at the library.
Aren't you 18 or something? What can happen to a single person in only 18 years that would fill a book?
I can't even remember what I did today, let alone over the course of my 18 years. |

Re: Ran into my friend at the library.
Just out of curiousity, what have you done in your life that warrants a memoire? Most of the time, you only write a memoire if you are a former president, some sort of civil rights leader, or if you just want attention because you have no musical/acting/political skills.
Anyway, as to what to do: try to keep it a secret, but if he keeps pressing, just tell him this is what you want to do and to drop it.

Re: Ran into my friend at the library.
It seems to me like you're being kind of ridiculous. Why does it have to be a secret? You don't necessarily have to let him read it, if that's what you're worried about.
Also, I'm really interested in what you've done thus far in your life that warrants the writing of an autobiography. Wouldn't it make more sense to wait until you're older, so that you can include *all* of the cool/interesting/meaningful things you're going to experience?

Re: Ran into my friend at the library.
Write the autobiography if you wish, Eggs. :3 Though I too am interested in what you've done so far in your live that has made you feel as though you want to write one.
But anyways, I think you've gotten a decent amount of advice, and I don't see how this thread is going to survive much longer, other than having people arguing with you about how you don't deserve to write an autobiography.
