What would you do if you could travel ONCE back into the past?

What would you do/inform yourself/buy if you could travel back in time once ........... I dont mean re-doing a part of your life over, but traveling to the past (so there's two of you at that time)..... So what would you do?

Personally, i'd go back to 1998 and propose the split timeline to the zelda community i think that would save years of theorizing pains

I'd travel back a few seconds to tell myself to do the same. We would have an unstoppable army of me!

If anytime, I'd choose to go back to about 1968.

If when I was alive, go back to around 1999 and tell myself what to do to make the future MUCH better. For me, of course.

Why 1968?

The beginnings of classic rock. I'd see all my favorite artists live, get all the limited edition stuff, and get high in the time that everyone got high. Good deal.

I'd go back to when I was a child and tell myself to do certain things that will alter my future.

Hmm.... i would also travel back to the year 2000 and re-live the Y2K scandal

I'd go back to early 2007 and tell myself to:

- Stop being so obsessed with the internet.
- Spend your graduation money on a saxophone, not a laptop. Because the laptop you will get in the future will give you countless problems, and you still won't have that saxophone you really want two years in the future when you really wish you had it to march with. =(

I'd like to go back and see what Anne Boleyn really did for King Henry. I've always had some weird obsession with the Boleyn family.

I'd probably just go back and try to have a conversation with a famous historical person, or witness some historical event, well trying not to die, or maybe go back in time and take a bullet for Martin King Jr., or John F. Kennedy; maybe even Abraham Lincoln. Save someone's life to see how their further existence altered the future.. though I wouldn't be able to tell, cause I'd be dead, and that'd royal screw up the future.. I think. <_<

Well firstly I would never in a million years change any part of my life in the past simply because that might change how things are NOW, and things now are actually pretty excellent.

I guess I'd go meet Oscar Wilde or something. Who doesn't want to party with Oscar Wilde?

I'd go back to 2007 and tell him I love him before it was too late. (sounds like a badly written movie!)

Or to the 1920's. My favorite decade for sure.

Oh, the twenties would be neat too. Just so I could buy some clothes. And meet Robert Johnson? I mean I wouldn't have much to say I'd just be like YO ROB, HIGH-FIVE FOR BEING PRETTY AWESOME and he'd be like what get out of my house

To kind of play off of that, I would go back to 2005 when the first red flags went up in my last relationship and tell myself to dump him a lot sooner than I did. But then again, I'm glad things turned out the way they did, otherwise I wouldn't be here with an amazing boyfriend and so many opportunities that I never would have had had I stayed with my ex.

Or back to the 80's. I was too little to experience the 80's to its fullest, so I wanted to do that as an adult

Just food for thought (now I wouldn't want to change the discussion of the thread but, I'm just thinking of some consequences): What if you could only travel once back in time, however, you'll remain in the past! So if you want to go back to 1996, you'll have to relive the next 13 years (of course, you're older now but you might need to find yourself a new identity) to get to our present. Of course if you go way back in time, a new identity really won't matter (because they didn't have Social Security numbers, important IDs, technology, tracking, etc...).

If I could go back in time it would be in 2001 when I first started my new high school (it was am ivy league high school) and I would tell myself (maybe even help myself) to work/study harder at that school (of course, I'll need to find a place to live/stay without my own family seeing me). And really take up cycling and weight lifting. At least reliving 8 years won't be all that bad. And once my younger self get the hangs of things (once he can study hard on his own), I may take some time to myself and travel. You know "see the world" and knowing (vaguely; since I'm not all that strong on history/the news) what's going to happen next.

Of course if my past self does exactly what I told him to do, maybe my present will cease to exist (so no traveling the world) because with my new high school diploma, I'd go to a better college, hopefully meet some different girlfriends, get a nice college education, and live the independent life I've always wanted.

I guess I'd go back to 2004 to when I started college.

Hmm... Toughie. I dunno. I would probably go back to when I was a kid and tell myself to save and date more of my drawings, since I'd have no idea how batty it would drive me in the future to not remember how/when I created some idea. While I'm there, I'd also probably watch a bit of my childhood, to try to remember some of those carefree times.

If I had to stay in the past, then I think I'll stick with the present, thanks.

But if changes were made in the past, wouldn't the changes already have taken effect? (I just realized that would make the idea of going back in time to remind myself to do something an entire waste of time.)

All this about going back to warn yourself of pending issues to be avoided, any thought of others?

I would go back and help my best friends avoid a lot of problems in their life, and help them become better people.

Ultimately, if it was a one-way journey, I'd never really choose to take it. There is nothing like living in the present, with the people I know, and growing up with all of my friends and acquaintances together.

My biggest regret is being somewhat of a stupid rebellious teen for my early high school years. I avoided having any kind of social life on the count of it being "stupid" and "immature" and whatever pathetic excuse I made that let me just sit at home and play video games. I wish I could have dropped them mostly and moved on to having a social life. People are important, and interpersonal relationships define your life.
