Mmm... Chocolate
Well its good friday tomorrrow and that means its the easter holiday. In which we remember the death and possible rebirth of a man who through the events of four days changed the fundimental thinking of many people. Also I am aware that many other religous holidays take place around this time. I was wondering do you think it odd that easter takes place during what passes as fall around here yet I tend to focus on the ressurection aspect (and the chocolate eggs that come with it). Yet the Northen Hemisphere as it in spring yet they focus on his death. This is ofcourse using the fusion between christian and pagan beliefs that accorded in europe when christianity was introduced. So what are you celerbrating or doing at this time of year?

Re: Mmm... Chocolate
During the entire month of April, my mom goes around decorating the house with bunnies, flowers, jellybean filled candy dishes, and images of Christ with little baby lambs. I really hate it. It's embarrassing to bring friends over to my house during this time of year.
On Easter day, after my family returns from church, my mom prepares a huge picnic in our backyad. Reltives, friends and neighbors are often invited, so it's always pretty hectic and busy. Mormons are a very social people, sometimes I think their friendliness with each other is almost annoying. |

Re: Mmm... Chocolate
Ill be spending Easter with (half of) my family. Im not sure about the death or ressurection thing... it seems to me though, that when my family prays before dinner, that its recognized as the ressurection.
Anyways, my cousins birthday happens to fall on Easter Sunday this year, so we'll be celebrating that as well. Ah, and of course, theres the chocolate to be had.^_^ Im sure my little cousins will be doing egg hunts or something fun like that. I dont do that anymore, Ive helped set it up the past two times though.^.^

Re: Mmm... Chocolate
At my house we celebrate Easter as more of a tradition than a religious holiday, even though we are a very religious family. We prefer to celebrate the idea of the death, burial, and ressurection every day, rather than confine it to a springtime Sunday. In other words, there's candy to be had, eggs to be found, and food to be cooked and eaten.
It's just a day for some family time and good clean fun.
