How much do you judge someone based on their avatar?

Sure I judge people by their avy. Their posts, names, signatures and their clans.

This isn't to say, by the way, that I judge entirely on avatars. I know a few people who have anime/rpg anime avatars for example who aren't "hey ZU, suck me, I'm POPULAR".

EDIT: Actually, with animated avatars, they're either alright, or ****ty and annoying. I know of at least three people here at ZU who currently have really bad ones.

I don't judge anyone from the avatar, i don't even judge them via the posts they produce, i decide if i like them via the posts instead. I'm not a judger as such.

i try not to judge anyone on their avatar's. some of them can give you clues to the persons personality though. like "oh thats clever/humorous/ i bet this person is artistic."
if i were to make an assumption though on a totally random avatar, Keaton King, do you like first person shooters?

I judge everything based on the avatar because it's like the cover of a book, and it totally says who the person is deep inside their soul.

Seriously... If a person has an avatar of something morbid and grotesque, they're probably a homicidal psycho who wants to eat my pets.


I kid... Actually I don't judge people over the internet, because I have better things to do with my time than judge people, especially people I don't know anything about. It's not my place to judge anyway soooo no.

Like many people here, I tend to associate an avatar with someone's physical appearance. ...Except the people that change it every other day.

Here's how I see it.

This. It's a common thing in forums, I'd guess. Also, I don't know about you guys, but if I see an avatar of, say, a video game character I recognize, I tend to narrate that person's post with the according character.

Lol, that's a bit far. I might change my avatar to Barret just for that.

you can tell alot by a member based on their avatar...i like to be a fly on the wall hence why i changed mine to the one i have..

I usually judge more off the name.

If the name has originality and no digets, then the person is awesome.

If it's something like "darkshadow234" then I usually tend to avoid them without even noticing.

i always see a person's post coming out of the mouth with the exact mood of the person/thing in someone's avatar (void for abstract avatars), so i try and pick avatars that are generally happy or happy-go-lucky or lookin' smart

and i sure am lookin' smart or happy right now

I usually pick avatars that make me look hardcore and awesome.

I generally base it on the signatures, smiley's and grammar. And sometimes name, if it has a load of numbers in it it tends to make me think "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOB". But I don't judge too much, I don't like judging most people straight away so I try not to, I think it's just rude.

alex, girls aren't hardcore or awesome, even ones with guns

now maybe if you had a picture of like an evil monster chompin' down some kittens you'd look pretty darned hardcore or awesome but that just doesn't really make the cut, y'know?

change it to vin diesel doing some cool dance moves
