Re: How much do you judge someone based on their avatar?

If people use one's avatar and signature to determine how weird someone is, then I must seem like a total nutcase.

Re: How much do you judge someone based on their avatar?

If anyone has any animu or manga character avatar that ain't from the 80s or 90s, then I have no reason to talk to that person.

I hardly ever look at avatars. I learn what peoples signatures are and just remember everything from there signature.

Ehh, who cares what you think, anyway? :P

I do that sub-conscious thing of imagining that someone looks like their avatar, too. Can't help it. Not so much the judging thing, though.

Funny, I have this habit of not taking anything said by gorillas seriously. It seems to work out pretty well.

Re: How much do you judge someone based on their avatar?

I do a bit of judging, mostly on the tone of the avatar, as others here have said they do.

And yeah, I tend to assume people look like their avatars. Of course, they never do, but I can't really help that.

Re: How much do you judge someone based on their avatar?

I do the imagine people looking like their avatars too. Unless I've seen an actual picture of them and remember it.

I judge a person somewhat on their avatar. Usually just to guess what they like. They have a picture of a Jellyfish for an avatar? Maybe they like the ocean a lot? Maybe it relates to a peaceful nature?

Of course, I usually overthink it and they just picked it because they thought it looked cool.

Re: How much do you judge someone based on their avatar?

Oh yeah, especially those who put anime in their avatars. I also assume that someone looks like their avatar, altough the thought that someone may think that I look like Frank Sinatra makes me chuckle.

I never assume someone looks like their avatar. However, I think you can tell alot about someones personality by looking at their avatar.

yes I completely judge somebody based on their personal avatar.

an avatar is like an open book of someones personality, it says everything you need to know.

Heh, I do the same thing. For a while, I imagined you looking like that purple-haired guy from Pokémon. I still do, actually.

On a slightly related note, I do bear a slight resemblance to my avatar.

Anyway, I usually do judge people based on their avatars. If it's a light-hearted, humorous avatar, I assume that this person is of the funny, witty sort. If a person has a cool avatar, I assume that they're pretty cool. If their avatar is, well, stupid, I assume that they're stupid as well.

I also tend to use avatars as a means of identifying people. If a user has had a certain avatar for an extended period of time, I tend to use it to determine who that user is. If they change it, I'm thrown off, and I have no idea who they are for a while.

Avitars are the easyest way to recognise someone on the boards, and half the time I don't know the usernames, just the avitars.

Re: How much do you judge someone based on their avatar?

I don't judge members by their avatars, although I do find that some avatars can be very annoying. I hate the ones that are oversized to the point where it's pixelated, blurry, or too small to even quite get what's on it. ;P

The signatures, however, tend to make me think about what the member might be like.

Re: How much do you judge someone based on their avatar?

I don't judge people by their avatars. Except for people with sucky avatars. Then again, I don't really judge these ones either, I just think of them as newbies for some reason.

What I do, though, is rely on the avatars to recognize a person. A change of avatars by an active member leaves me confused for some days.

EDIT: I do hope people don't judge by avatars. I might seem really lame in comparison to anime characters.
