Cool Helping others

I usually try to refrain from posting more than one topic in the chit chat thread at a time, but I felt this one would be okay.

Do you try your best to help others when you are out and about?

Example: While walking around Wal-Mart today, looking for my mom(not what you think, she finds the most inconceiveable places to look at stuff when I'm ready to go), I was checking the weights section in the sporting goods, to see how much 10 lb plates cost. About $5, but nevermind that. While I was standing there looking, some ladies asked me if I could help them. They were trying to get a weight lifting starter kit into their cart. It was in a hard plastic container thing, with a handle on one end, ANYWAY, they said it was like 100 lbs. but since I lifted 100 lbs just the other day, I'd say it was more like 75. Anyhoo, I lifted it up easily, and set it on their cart for them, and everybody was happy. Now if only they had all be young teenage girls, instead of moms in their 40's(I suspect), it would have been better day, but oh well, no girls like me anyhow.

But I ask you, do you help others when opportunity arises? Or do you blow them off?, because you've got something better to do, or you don't think they deserve your help.

Re: Helping others

Yeah, I find myself doing little nice things here and there.

Ive seen people in my neighborhood struggling with heavy stuff before and offered to help them carry it to thier car, or to the trash..wherever they needed it to go.
Most of the generosity is seen by my freinds though. Ill usually lend out a dollar or two to people if they need it for lunch or something. I help some people carry heavy bags and books when thier arms are full of stuff.

Lets see, what did I do today...
Nothing really, I held the door open for my english class after returning from the library. And one of my freinds was having some troubling drawing the face on an anime piccie in art class, so I helped her with that.

So yeah, I like to help others when they ask for it...or even if they dont, I'll offer. It just seems natural to help someone who looks like they need it, or have asked for it. I could never imagine blowing anyone off, it just wouldnt seem right to me.^.^

Re: Helping others

would you say women have done their share after giving birth too?

Anyway yeah I try to help out as much as I can, last time it was something as small as pointing an elderly lady where the wrapping paper was (I happened to know since I just got some of it myself) and the store clerk was busy helping someone else.
Opportunity didn't arise lately so the last thing I did to help out was paint a part of my friends schoolproject

I haven't done anything today since I haven't even been out of my room yet, it's 9.10 am and I'm thinking I better take a shower soon or I'll be late for school.. heh

Re: Helping others

It makes me feel good to help others, even thoguh it somtimes might turn out bad for me in the end. I always try to help when I can since I think yo shoudl always lend a hand when you can. One day you míght be the one stading there looking for help. I belive the ones you help will then go help others. Perhaps that's a bit naiv, but I hope my help will nto only help tat person at that specific moment, but that it will also help persons that might need help in teh future becasue the one I helped are willing to help others. Gah, sound a bit confusing, but I hope you know what I mean.

Even the smallest things canb e helpfull; answering a question about what time it is or just let a person knwo they forgot something at the buss...

Re: Helping others

wah- great Idea this Kami
I might have mentioned this before but .. I usually tend to think that as soon as I get up, that my time is not just mine's but it should be used to help and aid as much as possible..
I have assigned myself at an early age as a sort of counsellor for my siblings ( to break up the civil wars that arise evey 5 mins or so XD) That feeling is enforced since I am the oldest girl at home.
Also, Since I worked in our school last year, I've had an intensive course with dealing with children and ways of helping ... there's an unalloyed sense of delight when I do make someone smile and/or help in any way
Talking of which, smiling in itself is a help! ^______^

:0)

Let's see.....yepyep, my time is not my own...erm...Counselor, yepyep...uh...smiling, yeah, that too... ;0)

hehe. Good rundown, there, AQ.

If I ever let an opportunity pass by, at ALL, I feel like the biggest waste of space on the facets of the multiverse. -_-

There's NO reason why you shouldn't do all that you can to help someone. And, especially, if they ask for this help...there is no excuse.

We should all attempt to treat our fellow man as higher than ourselves. Children, adults, those of different cultures and nationalities, those with different beliefs and understandings... ... ...

You're mud if you don't.

/end of line

Re: Helping others

Well, I help others. Especially at work. Our costumer service is high, and we have to go and talk to people when they are shopping around. Like help them to find what they are looking for and check them out.
I also help my Uncle's wife a lot. I baby sit and clean the house. Well, that's not much.
And I help my friends at school. Like if they have problems in their homework...
