Something kinda dumb on my teacher's part

So one of the rules in my school is that if you are bringing something valuble in, it is your responsibility not to lose it or get it stolen, and if you do, there is nothing they will do about, because it is your fault.
Well, my teacher brought in his Mp3 player which is quite valuble, but, someone stole it. So, now remeber the rule. Well, he comes in and has a whole meeting with the kids that were in his class, and says that someone stole it, and he wants it back. He even got the principal to say someone stole it on the intercom!!
Well, I thought the rule was that if you get it stolen or lose it, it is your fault, and they cannot help it if you did. Well, how can he post all this stuff around the school, it is his fault. He even enforces that rule!! So, uh, what do you think of that. I think he is quite the hypocrit. (probably spelled that wrong, but that is okay)

Re: Something kinda dumb on my teacher's part

Well, I'm a demi-teacher, myself, and if your teacher can't follow the very rules he's enforcing, then he's a brat of a dude. How old is he??! Must be relatively new, I think...

Anyway, you shouldn't mention anything to him. Unless you're especially close to him, it would only hurt you to say something to him about this. He will no doubt start to suspect you.

It is better to keep silent and know you are right, than to cast suspicion on yourself by speaking about a touchy subject with a wacko teacher.

Believe me, the school system is crazy...

Re: Something kinda dumb on my teacher's part

Yeah, the teacher has been at my school for more than five years. I didn't say anything, atleast not around him, and I am not exactly very uh, close to him. I am not a very big fan of him anyway. He has not seen anything.

Re: Something kinda dumb on my teacher's part

School is like it's own form of government (somewhat like a monarchy before the Magna Carta was created) Many of the nobles (teachers) and the King (Principal) are above the law. If they break the rules there's almost nothing you can do about it because they are the ones that enforce them.

It's his fault. The lab teacher got his cell- phone stolen the other day. But they found out who took it.

First. It is the thief's fault. Not his.

Second. He shouldn't corral the students because it was stolen. He has no way of knowing who it was, and he shouldn't start a witch-hunt.

Re: Something kinda dumb on my teacher's part

If he enforces the rule, then he should have no problem accepting that he lost it and it "his fault" and his responsibility. The guy has to learn to follow his own rules, if he had it announced over the intercom too, then something is wrong. It seems now as if teachers are excused from the rules in your school. Let the guy weep in his loss. Enforce the rule on him, and if he persists, rub it in his face about how it is his rule.

Not to sound harsh, but that teacher seems a little screwed up if he doesn't even follow a rule he strictly enforces. I say, let him be and watch him as he cries and beggs for help, only to get ignored because of his own rule.

Re: Something kinda dumb on my teacher's part

Well, that sort of rules are for students, not for teachers. Is as i see it, so i see no problem with he acting like this.
In my school, if you got soemthing stolen the whole classroom had to pay for it if you didnt got it back.

The school system is extremely messed up.

At my school, it says in the rules no cell-phones allowed, yet some of the teachers have them, and even use them during the day!

Now, I think they should at least give us equal rights, and not make us the peasents.

Well, though it's not his fault it got stolen, you really shouldn't leave things valuable in everyone's sight anyway. And you shouldn't point fingers, unless you know for a fact it was stolen.

If you gave students and teachers the same rule, what is to say what seperates the too. It's like having a king when all the peasents have the same job too. It doesn't work well.

Re: Something kinda dumb on my teacher's part

Heh of course it's not his fault that it got stolen, but he shouldn't have done that, no pointing fingers, questioning the class etc. Since that's the school's policy.

I don't know what my school's policy was on that subject but one day my teach had confiscated some Magic cards from a first grader, since he was playing with them too much. She was going to give them back to the kid on Friday and the cards were lying on her desk on thursday so some of our class noticed and looked at them. Later on they were gone, probably stolen and the teacher blamed someone from our class since we were the only was (supposedly) that saw them. She actually kept us in the classroom until someone admitted, we were locked in there for at least a few hours o.o

That's actually so that people won't cheat on tests by IMing each other... that and so that class isn't disrupted by your cel-phone ringing, most of the time for students it won't be an importent call, if it was then the person can just call the office, wheras if it's a teachers it's more likely to be importent.

Indeed.

Kids these days don't know their place. They think they deserve equality but they don't.

Sit down, shut up and do your work.

Exactly.

The real reason you can't have cell phones, is because when you are talking on the cell, you aren't learning. Secondly, the teacher is an adult, and you are a minor. You have less responsibility, why should you have the same right?

Furthermore, the teachers are seperate from the students. They aren't there to be your friends, they are there to teach you.

Hehe. Personally, if you want the same amount of rights, you need to shoulder the same amount of responsibility. I'm not paying taxes, and I don't support myself with a job. You don't do what adults do, and that separates you from them. The purpose is to prepare you to become adults (from which we conclude that you aren't yet).

Yes I am an adult, I drive, have a job, pay my taxes, pay for my house, drink and still manage to fit in work on my film diploma.

Re: Something kinda dumb on my teacher's part

Well, like other people said, it wouldn't make sense if students and teachers had to follow the exact same rules. If they did, and a student was acting up, how are the teachers supposed to scold them, or even teach or that matter if no one was allowed to talk? They wouldn't be able to. Teachers are excempted from certain rules for a reason. I assume that Galbatrox's teacher was ecempted from the rule about losing things.

Even though I'm only 14, I'll have to agree with Magnetichead about kids who don't know there place. So, why should they have equal right to adults. They don't pay taxes yet. They don't have as much responsibility. This is how I see it: The more responsibility you shoulder, the more freedom you get.

Re: Something kinda dumb on my teacher's part

Although that is the rule....the teacher can break that rule if he pleases....unfortunately the world is like that so we cant really do anything about it. The whole education system is full of that so i really think you should get used to it.
