Do you have braces?

Here's a question. Which of you guys/girls has braces? How long? And how did the Orthodontist screw up?:p If you don't have braces, well, be nice to the dentally challenged. (If there's already a thread like this, please lock this one.) Here's my orthodontal info:

I got my braces in April 2002(two years ago)
I still have them, duh.
I was supposed to get them off this May, but my orthodontist miscalculated and now I have to wait until December.
There was this period of time that I needed to wear a bite plate that literally gave me a lisp. I never wore it, to tell the truth. The next appt after I was supposed to stop wearing it, the dentist murmured: "Hmm, looks like you didn't need to wear it after all..."
How messed up is that!?

So, yeah, tell me your bicuspidal blunders...

ummmm no i don't have braces but i might need them, i've got good teeth (never had a cavity before) but there kinda misplaced . so no i don't have braces but might get some

Well, I was supposed to get braces, but they had some other thing(can't remember what it was called) in the bottom of my mouth. That really helped my teeth out by lining them up straight. So, my teeth are very straight now.

That was a few years ago and I will not have to get braces, thankfully.

I do not have braces at the moment, but I know I am probably getting them next year maybe. I do not want them, but I have to get them sadly... My teeth actually are not that bad, I will only need about a year of braces or less.

I have them... well top ones... a few more weeks untill i get the botom (sp?) ones... I think that's messed up...

I had braces some years ago. Hmm, got them about 4,5 years, and removed then around 2 years ago. Gah, a really painfull experience, but I ended up with nice teeht, so I don't complain too much today. Made me start smiling again.

I hated the braces at first. Had this metal thing up in the "roof of my mouth" (gah, don't know what that bodypart is called in english), but acidenly happend to broke it while eating some forbidden candy. It really hurt a lot, and I was more than happy when they told me they could not add it again. So the cbraces becsome less painfull after that. I alos wore this "invicible" braces which made it less visible. The metal at my frion teeth were painted white so thye woud be detecred at a rapid look..

Never had braces, I tend to think I have very straight teeth. An orthodontist (sp?) said my brother needed HEADGEAR for awhile, and his teeth are EXACTLY lke mine. Crazy.

Uh, well, my sister has some, but she really isn't very impressed with them. My step sister does also, though, she doesn't say much about them.

Nope, I don't have braces. I've never had braces either.. in all my life of going to the dentist twice a year I have never had to sit in that chair for more than 30 seconds, except for a few times back when he first took x-ray pictures of my teeth..

anyway they're spotless..somehow o.0

Nope, I've never had them before either, but my Mom is planning on making me get some this summer, since we don't want wait too long to get them. I personally think my teeth are fairly straight and I don't need them, but I guess I'm forced to listen to the orthodontist. I'm really dreading it, it sounds painful ._.;;

Yeah, I got the buggers.

They dont bother me all too much, as I know its probably for the better. The only thing I dislike about them is that they cause massive gashes in my cheeks sometimes. *ouch*

Heh, I know what you're talking about Mal, I got that same thing glued up in there right now. I just call it the "roof of the mouth" too.....but I think the orthodontists call it your "palette". I should get mine off any time now...which means Ill be able to speak and swallow things normally again, YAY!

I wouldnt mind having all of this stuff done......if it wasnt the second time Ive gone through it. This is the second "pallete expander" glued to the roof of my mouth, my second set of braces. Yep, the first guy.......he messed up. *shakes fist*

Ah well, life goes on. Another 20 months or so and everything is done for good.

I got my braces taken off at the beginning of last school year. I had them for about 21 months before that, so I was fairly glad to get them off. They're quite the painful experience. For the first 5 months I ha a hyrax on the roof of my mouth so as to spread my top sets of teeth farther apart. That REALLY sucked. Now I've just got these damn retainers, but at least they don't hurt like hell and are removeable =>_>-.

Both my sisters had braces, but luckily I never had to get them. Luckily my teeth are straight, the only thing thing that needs to be corrected in my tiny overbite.

I remember both my sisters had to avoid cola and certain other sodas because their orthadontist forbid them to consume phosphoric acid. I would often drink coke infront of them just to tease them.

I got braces in April 2001 and got them out June 2003.

The braces weren't too bad, except for when I tried to play Trumpet at all, or Clarinet for more than about an hour.

I still have my retainers, and it's a funny thing -- the retainers hurt somewhat more than the braces ever did O_o.

o_o.. is there seriously phosphoric acid in cola? I thought it was just carbonic acid.. that sounds fuggin' dangerous.

phosphoric acid? o.o .....scary, you sure? heh..

I do remember every kid I knew getting fluorine treatments from their dentists while my dentist never gave me one and all the kids telling me the most horrific things that would happen without fluorine o.0 well.. I never got it and *checks* all my teeth still here =)

I consumed about 7.5 mg of phosphoric acid this very morning.
