Re: I have unstable tendencies
Well... If you could ellaborate on what happened between you and your brother, than there might be some people here who could give you some really deep insight into the matter...
But as far as I'm concerned, I think everyone at one point in their lives fights with a sibling... |

Re: I have unstable tendencies
here we go. I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I have SERIOUS rage problems. you see, im an implosive type of person. anyway, I wanted to show a friend something on the computer. my brother was on a game, also on the computer. so it went from argument to fight to parental intervention to my dad having a rage fit of his own. needless to say there is another enourmous hole in the wall. he has some issues.

Quote:
I don't have rage problems... but it sounds like this was just a case of over-reacting. I'm guessing, but I suppose that you and your brother were both being a bit selfish when it came to using the computer... selfish for your brother because he just wanted to play the game, and selfish for you because you didn't care that he was playing the game.. I had many many times where my brother and I fought like you fought with your brother... only not over the computer.. over the NES XD Anyway, it sounds like your whole family needs to learn how to communicate your feelings a bit better than you do currently. Comming to fisticuffs (aka fighting physically) about things is not healthy in any relationship, and I'm sure that the added stress from your brother and father does not help your condition. Tell me if you will.... do you take any perscription medication for your manic depression.. *ahem* I mean bipolar disorder? I find that too often the case today, throwing pills at the patient seems to be the more popular route than actually sitting down and trying to talk to the sufferer.... |

Re: I have unstable tendencies
Ah yes. How old are you, Red Wyvern? Normally when you are teens, this is what we called: "Teen Angst". It has something to do with the horomone (sp?) changing in your body from teen to adult and this kind of change will make you wild, loose control, and basically just... SNAP, easily.
I guess sometimes depression will make you agitated extremely easily. From some of the reports that I have read on the 'net while I had a depression a while ago, the meds all have weird and dangerous side effects which may be a cause for your rage as well. This is why I never took meds, but using my willpower (it's true), I've gone out of that depressing stage. Still, I snapped very easily, even for the smallest things! It could also be your explosive personality (over-reacting, short temper... etc), as Sadida has stated. I know that I'm unbelievably impatient and I have an explosive temper for a long, long time already, like, ever since when I was a child. Normally, we will all fight with our siblings. Heck, years ago, I fought with my two older sisters (I was smaller back then :p), using fists and legs; almost like sparring. So yeah, don't take this incident too hard. It might just be a case of "bad day", you know what I mean?

Re: I have unstable tendencies
Well I can relate with your rage problems and depression things. when i have my deep rage i just stop talkin, because i know if i say anything ill just explode and start cursing and headbutting people. something else i do to deal with my anger is hurt myself, whitch i do not recomend, i am what you would call a cutter or what ever i cut myself. i cant really help you hide the rage or anything like that cause i cant do it myself, but i have to say that you are one strong individual because talking about these things are really not easy, i mean im getting angery writing this. i just dont tell anyone about my problems i keep them locked up inside.
.....locked up on the inside, never to escape, always burning, fire on the inside, screaming to escape, locked up inside, never to escape........so yeah |

Re: I have unstable tendencies
Well, I'm not bipolar. But I did calculate that on average I blow up twice a year, and it's usually very bad. I always keep thinks bottled up in me and I just let out sometimes on someone who doesn't even deserve it. I did stop fighting with my brother a long time ago. We both just matured and started respecting each other. As you get older, your problem with your brother will probably decrease.

Re: I have unstable tendencies
Whenever you feel enraged, STOP. Don't do those counting things because counting to ten won't work, counting to a million still won't work. What you need to do when you feel enraged and feel really pissed off, is to stop. Immediately. Stop what you are going to say next, stop what you are going to next. Just, stop.
After you have stopped yourself from making a comeback or exploding in front of your family or friends, you have already created a nice way out from diving into an out-of-control anger battle with others. Instead of bottling up forever, walk away. Think or do something else that won't hurt you or make you feel ever worse than before. What I recommend is a nice, LONG, walk. Alone. It really works. A walk, though it sounds simple, can allow you to digest what just happened and what are the solutions to your problems. Most importantly, is don't feel as if others are going against you or something like that. After all, even if they seem to be angry with you and so on and so forth, there ARE times when they are nice to you. Believe me, I have this experience all the time, and everytime when I think back on the good times that I have had with my family and friends, my rage just disappears.

Re: I have unstable tendencies
Well you can do like me....(although it's not too safe in its own right) ...you just put things off. Hold your emotions backl. Really i think taht keeping you anger and rage pent up helps some times...and its better to be safe some of the time then in danger all the time becasue you cant control your anger....now believe me ..i have been told that its unsafe and i belive them bvecause it really F***s with my emotional and mental stability in its own right. I have times wen i lose my own will to live bu the next minute im scolding people about how suicide is wrong and is a bad thing.
But in truth don't listen to anything i just said....^^...find a good vent to your anger...(maybe i should listen to myself once in a while)....

Re: I have unstable tendencies
You should crack his ribs. Thus eliminating the need to fight, would you fight a cripple?
Actually, I know what you're talking about. I break into a fury easily, I don't really lose control. But I like people to think that I do, that way it's easier to avoid fights. I have ADD, too. |

Re: I have unstable tendencies
Well I've not been diagnosed with anything, but I am extremely emotional and don't bottle up my feelings. Also, I inherited an extremely short temper from my dad.
I was bullied excessively at school about my eczema, and then because I liked Pokémon. I am violent when I lose my temper. I have headbutted a window because I was annoyed by someone, I've kicked a neighbours door from the hinges, I've kicked a wall and put a hole in it, and just last week, I kicked the bottom hinge from the door in my bedroom. I'm no good at punching so I've grown up using my legs to defend myself, as I believe I have extremely strong legs! I do feel depressed a lot too, but sometimes, I'm very happy too! |

Re: I have unstable tendencies
My best friend has the same problems. Bipolar out the hizzle fo Rizzle. Quite frankly There has been times that I was scared to be around him cause he was so out of it. This is normally what happens first he'll widen his stance and put his hand against something... Then he'll suck in his lower lip his eyes will dart back and forth as his mind regresses. You all know what a brown out is right? As a person is overcome with anger parts of their brain just "Brown out" and you have less reasoning. Well He gets to the state of almost retarted-ness. It's pretty scary to be around at times when he gets pissed, normally I just take him out of the room so he doesn't make a fool of himself and I calm him down so he can think normally.
^^ Other then that he's the best person you'll ever meet. So to answer your question ya I can relate.
